 JUST A SMALL TOWN GIRL
Pepper gently rapped her knuckle against the door and looked in. She sighed and clicked over to Hailey. "Hey, I so sorry...Is there anything -anything at all- that I can help out with?" She placed a vase of a variety of different flowers on the nightstand. "Tony was unable to make it, but he sends his best to the both of you." Pepper told her gently. She sighed and didn't quite know what she could say to help Hailey get through this.
She sat down on another chair and said to Hailey, "Don't worry, he'll make it through this, I promise." She didn't know what else to say, she hated seeing one of her friends like this.

Broden freaking ran to the hospital at shield to see her two friends who were injured and one of them was in a damn coma. "god damn it .. if there is a god you sure like pissing me off don't you " she muttered to herself and walked past the nurses.
She would not be denied the opportunity to visit her friends and make sure they are being taken care of properly and not sadistic hag.She entered the room of Captain after finding Hailey's room empty , damn woman was only gonna get herself injured worse running around with those wounds."hey .. i came to visit and i ahm brought some stuff " she said softly and put two glass bottles of cola on the table and some candy " i wasn't sure what stuff you guys had back then . but i thought i would try and find some " she said softly and looked at Steve and swallowed hard.
"Steve .. you better wake up from this .. you are not gonna ditch on me now .. your like the annoying pushy older brother i never had .. please just wake up man " she said softly to him and tried to force back the tears, wouldn't be right to be crying when she wasn't the injured one here. she turned and looked at Hailey and sighed softly "and you , miss are in trouble . running around with those injuries .. your gonna get yourself worse with that "she said softly and with worry all over her face.
"i wish there was something i could .. i could try and use my blood . but i doubt he'd be too happy about that and i don't know for sure what would happen " she said softly

She heard Pepper come in, but didn't move. She listened to what she said, knowing she only wanted to help. She bit down on her lip, to stop emotions from spilling over."Only one thing..could help.." She knew Pepper would not be able to do the one thing. She had stopped crying, because she had no tears left. But what she hadn't stopped was a hope that Steve would wake up. She sniffed, and the smell of the flowers reminded her of the one week they had off, after their second mission. It brought one last tear, and she wondered what was filling Steve's head at this moment. [/center] |

Nick Fury arrived at the hospital where Steve Rogers was taken too. As one of his agents opened the door for him, they told him what happend and Fury cringed. Sinestero, and the other two would pay for what they did to Captain America. Fury did hear that Hailey was there too so he would talk to her about it. As the nurses directed him to where Cap was at, Fury thanked them as he went to Steve's room. Knocking on the door, Fury peeked his head in, before walking in. He noticed the people in the room....including Hailey.
Fury put his hand on her shoulder. "Hailey" Fury with with a soft smile. Looking at her, Hailey was a wreck. She should be resting too and getting healthier but the director of SHIELD wouldn't argue with her at this point. She cared about Steve and vice versa, that's what love can do to you. "What's Captain America's status? How is he holding up?" he asked her. If she didn't know then Fury wouldn't pressure her on it. Fury needed Steve to stay alive and keep fighting. It would just be a waste for him to be brought back and then die due to other things.

She heard to door open and someone walk in, but she didn't move at all. She kept her forehead on the bed, sitting in the same position as she had been before. She jumped slightly as a hand was placed on her shoulder. She looked up and saw Director Fury. "Sir." She tried to talk in her normal voice, but it cracked badly. She cleared her throat as she listened to his questions.
She sighed when he had asked his two questions, bot painful to answer. "He is in a coma." She muttered, looking back to Steve, she laid her head back on the bed. She didn't know the answer to his other question, but she had to answer him. Due to years in the Army. "I don't know. But I'm praying he makes it." She whispered into the mattress at the last words. |

Amelia had heard. She went into the room and heard Hailey mention a coma. She sighed and felt the tears prickle in her eyes. You gotta make it Steve, she thought as a small tear leaked from her eye. She sighed once more and looked at the ground. I'm sorry... She murmured and then added, he'll make it, Hailey...he's a fighter.

She heard someone walk in, and it was a girl she had never met before, but she looked familiar. She nodded, and looked up. "His heart is broken. I don't know if he wants to fight..." She sighed and looked away. She recognized her, and she remembered from where. Her walk in the park, where she had seen Steve for the first time after waking up.
That walk, she felt a small tear slide down as she remembered it all. Giving him the note, trying to leave and him pulling her back. She sighed, and let her head fall to the bed again, one of the machined beeping loudly, but not an indication of an emergency. [/center] [ ] |

He heard every word and at Hailey's touch he could have sworn his heart beat quickened. His eyes were sewn shut, his lips were frozen together, yet his ears were wide open. He thought, Oh Hailey...I'm sorry. I wish I could do something to show you i'm still fighting...for you....for Sam...for all of you. And it took all his strength to make his fingers curl around her own, gently squeezing her hand.

She felt his fingers curl around hers, and a small smile flickered on her lips. "Steve?" She leaned in close to him. Thank God. He is alive. Steve, stay with me. She pressed her her ear to his chest, and head his heart beating. Not broken yet... She leaned into his face and set a gently kiss on his lips, oblivious to the fact that Amelia, Pepper, and her boss, Director Fury, were all still there. "You promised you'd never leave me." Dammit Hailey, now I know why I shouldn't promise you things. Because I'll feel horrible if I break them. Sam...who wasn't there.

She sighed, her leg shaking from trying to support her. She sank back into the wheelchair, keeping her hand locked around his. "I know you didn't want to promise me that, on the beach so many years ago." She sighed. "But I'm glad you did." She leaned her head back down onto the bed, her throat and mouth were dry, and her body needed water, but she wasn't thirsty. She sighed, looking over at one of the machines hooked up to Steve. It was the heart monitor, and it was still beating. |

Broden sighed softly and kept quiet as so many came to visit Steven she felt kinda out of place and like she didn't belong here mostly because she was Sam's sister and she had told them off once she saw her sisters sad broken face when she and Steve had been ended. Broden sighed softly and put her gifts to them on the table and pulled away to one of the corners, she wanted to be sure he was okay before she left them.
She sighed softly and looked at all of the people in the room before walking to the door. She didn't say anything but just walked out of there and went to her room at shield. she didn't have the heart to stay and see them so weak and fragile , she hated seeing anyone she cared about injured. She rubbed her temples and sighed heavily " why didn't they call backup , why didn't they call me for help ..i should have helped them " she mumbled to herself

Sam had walked rather quickly to the hospital wing and sighed softly as she watched Hailey sit besides Steve`s hospital bed. She was envious that Hailey could do that but she knew that with the words she had said that night , she wouldn't be very welcomed inside there anymore.
Sam watched as the room was filled with people from shield and a attractive woman with strawberry blond hair, even her sister was in there but she didn't seem very comfortable in there but then again broden had never been good with hospitals.She took a deep breath and watched from the window , standing outside the room and feeling a bit happy to see Steve move his even if it was only a small movement. "thank god you alive Steve .. i hope you will get better soon " she said softly and looked at him with tear forming in her eyes, she roughly rubbed them away and looked t the two little teddy-bears with chocolate and a bag of coffee in their arms.
She was terrible at getting gifts and flowers were out of the question as they didn't last long around her. she sighed softly and walked in slowly , hoping she would invisible to the rest of them. she leaned down and kisses Steve's forehead gently " please just get better . we all need you .. i don't hate you or want you hurt . i just want you to be happy and safe " she whispered to him and put his teddy on the table next to him.
she turned and looked at Hailey and smiled weakly " i hope you aren't putting yourself in risk .. i am sorry for the way i behaved that day .. it was never meant to hurt any of you .. it was the only way i could cope, it was the only way i knew of " she whispered weakly to Hailey. "he will make it .. hes strong , so much stronger than me , than most " she said softly and looked at the door, wanting to bolt out of there immediately much like her sister had done.

Hailey looked up at Sam. She forced a small smile onto her face. "Thanks." She muttered, she glanced towards Steve. "He'd be happy you stopped by." She wheeled her chair around to her. She reached into her shirt and slid out the note. On it was Steve's scribbled handwriting. She sighed, and handed it to Sam. "He wanted you to know." She looked down, then wheeled her chair back to Steve, holding his hand again. She looked back to Sam as she read it. [/color] |

Sam sighed softly and looked at hailey " its the least i could do .. im not as heartless as it may seem " she said softly and looked down at her feet, unable to look at the blond beauty that won her first love. " thank you .. i should let you get some rest .. thank you for giving me the note .. " she said softly and took the note and looked at it.
She knew that a part of her would always love steve but she couldnt bring herself to dwell on it, after all they werent meant to be it seemed."tell him i stopped by .. would you please .. and please be careful .. both of you .. your friends and collegues " she sighed softly and didnt dare to read the note around people as she knew she would cry, his letters and notes had a habit of doing that to her.
