Sullivan laughed as the girl stepped in front of the man. Her bullets grazed him, nothing to worry about. He went forward and grabbed Blake around the throat, squeezing hard, attempting to either kill him or just make him pass out. Knowing that the girl would try to come to the rescue he used his other hand, calling up his power to twist the glass by her heart.

Blake stepped in front of her and she took a step forward and that was when Sullivan was there his hand closed around Blake's throat. Amelia took another step forward and then she saw Sullivan's hand twist and her mouth gaped open in a silent scream as she dropped to her knees, clutching her chest as the glass twisted into her flesh, shooting pain like she'd never felt through her.
Unable to hold it any longer, Amelia passed out, surrendering to the darkness that leaped up in front of her eyes.

Blake coughed as Sully's hand locked around his neck. His hands went up, trying to pull him away, and his eyes could not focus on the man's face at all, too much blood running into his eyes. The edges of what he could see began to go black, and all he could hear was the blood roaring in his ears. He looked at Amelia fainted, feeling his own head getting lighter. He let his hands drop away from the man's hand around his neck. He coughed out her name, blood splattering off his lips. His eyes drifted closed as his fingers fumbled with his utility belt. He was about to pass out, when he forced his eyes open, spitting a mouthful of spit and blood onto his face. He yanked a sheet of metal, like a batrang, but only it was a bird, a robin. He thrust it into the man's stomach, hard.

Sullivan dropped the man and stumbled backwards, coughing a bit. Blood trickled through is fingers as he swallowed, chuckling as he spotted the girl on the ground. He didn't think that she'd last long, one clue was the blood still spilling from her two wounds that he'd taken the glass from. Plus it was likely that one punctured her lung, Sully realized, her chances were slim and he grinned at the thought, clutching his stomach.

He coughed as he let go of him. While he was distracted looking at Amelia, he punched him in the jaw and slammed his armored knee into sheet of metal in his stomach, driving it in farther. "Get away from her!" He shouted, a rage in his voice. He slammed another fist into his jaw and kicked him back with a boot to the chest. He wasn't going to break Batman's rule...he wasn't going to break it.....was he?

Sullivan felt it being pushed further and further into him. He coughed, blood dripping from his mouth. He staggered and slipped to his knees, the metal cutting into main veins. "You two will loose everything," he snapped and then choked, falling to the side, blood dripping from his open mouth, sightless eyes staring.

He looked at his hands, smeared with his own blood. He looked at the dead man's body. I killed him..... He looked at the man, his weapon in his stomach. "I killed him..." he said aloud in disbelief. He dropped to his knees, clutching his side, letting the blood stream down his face, not bothering to wipe it away. Then he remembered Amelia. "Amelia!" He shouted, crawling over to her, pulling her into his lap, ripping a glove off. He pressed his bare fingers to her neck, feeling for a pulse. "Don't be dead..." He muttered, pulling her into his lap more. He didn't find a pulse so he adjusted his hand, feeling for it again. "Please?" He begged softly as he felt for it. He couldn't lose her...

Amelia's eyes slowly opened. "Blake?" she murmured, voice so soft he would have to lean close to hear her. A bit of blood dripped from her mouth, trickling down her cheek. She swallowed and coughed violently, her body jerking, sending pain ripping through her. She gritted her teeth as blood spilled from the two wounds where Sullivan had ripped out the glass. She took in a breath, but was unable to hold it in.
She swallowed the blood, tasting the foul liquid in her mouth. More trickled from her mouth as she tried to speak. "..I'm sorry," she murmured after stuttering. She pressed her weak, trembling hand to his side. She wished she could wipe some of the blood from his face but she didn't have enough strength.

[ He sighed in slight relief as she spoke. "Yeah, I'm here." He whispered, he hadn't left her yet. He adjusted her in his lap slightly, getting slowly to his feet, wincing in pain as he lifted her. He gently put his mask back on, wincing it pain as it rubbed on his face. He couldn't just bring her to the hospital bleeding in the Robin suit without a mask. When she said she was sorry and she pressed her hand to his side he shook his head. "Amelia, don't worry about me." He whispered and started to walk towards the door, wincing horribly as soon as the armor shifted and moved the bullet into his side more. He walked out of the university, and the man he had killed. He had killed....

Amelia swallowed and winced as he stood. "It's my fault...." she murmured, blood dripping from her mouth. She blinked slightly and her eyes began to close and he forced them open. "I-I-I...." she started to choke out but her eyes slipped closed and her head slid against his arm, gently thudding against his chest, blood still dripping from her mouth and gushing from her wounds. The three words she'd been try to say never came out and she wasn't sure she'd ever have a chance to say them again.

He looked at her, saying it wasn't her fault. He had moved, she wasn't aiming at him. He took one hand and brushed her hair behind her ear, using his thumb to wipe the blood away. When she began to stutter out "I-I-I" He looked at her, concern in his eyes behind the mask. "Amelia!" He started to run for the hospital as her head thumped onto his armored chest. He ran as fast as he could, not caring as blood gushed from his face and side. He didn't stop as he ran across traffic, nearly getting hit by a bus, and getting his foot run over by a pickup truck. He grit in teeth in pain but did not slow down as he ran. He slid into the hospital, his momentum carrying him to far, all her could do was turn. He slammed into her counter, his side first. He winced in pain as the counter dug into his side. The nurses and all the patients had screamed as he burst through to doors. One saw his condition, and the condition of Amelia in his arms. "What happened?" they asked, and Robin told them not to ask and to just take care of her. They nodded and he carried her to an emergency staffed place where they put her onto a hospital bad and wheeled her away. He watched in pain as she was taken from him. He watched standing there, not noticing the little boy that was staring at him as he watched her be wheeled down the hall. He turned away, a tear stinging the bleeding gash along his face. "Do you love her?" The little boy asked. And Blake didn't even have to think before he whispered "Yes." As he walked away, clutching his still bleeding side....

The world came in and out, Amelia lost track of time. Now and then she'd think she heard Blake's voice but she couldn't be certain and whenever she tried to talk her tongue felt like stone and she was unable to say anything and so she'd drift away again having dreams of Blake and Sullivan. But in her dreams Blake was sitting beside her in a hospital room, his hand clenched in hers, his face still bleeding and his side looking nastily covered in blood, little didn't she know that those ones weren't dreams but those rare flashes where her eyes peeled opened only the slam shut again before he took notice, pain driving her back into a sort of limbo.
And in this sort of Limbo she was able to think over her thoughts. She loved John Blake, the man who had pretty much saved her life. She wanted to feel his warm fingers in her own. She wanted to throw her arms around him and thank him for everything but every time his voice sounded she was unable to reply. And in the end when she finally came through she looked around. Blake wasn't there, sending her heart spiraling into despair.
She looked up as a nurse came in. "Where is he?" she asked hoarsely. The nurse sighed and replied, "You just missed him..." Amelia sighed and looked at the floor of her room. She had gone up against the Master of Glass and she'd nearly lost her life, and would have if a robin hadn't come and saved her. And so Detective John Blake, her partner in the Gotham City Police Department, became the person whom she named her hero.[/blockquote]
