 x x » i still don't know how to dance ..I just don't like bulliesI got beat up in that alley...and that one...Is this a test?
Steve paced his room. It was late and he should have been sleeping, but sleep wouldn't come, anyhow he was too nervous to sleep at the moment. Tomorrow would be his first day at his new post. He muttered to himself, something along the lines of why did he need to be switched? He liked his team...with Bucky...but the thought of his friend sent the emotionlessness spiraling down into a frown. Suddenly, just as he was sitting down, a knock came at his door. He went to the door and opened it.
"Captain Rogers, you're getting a partner." said the lady outside the door and Captain America stared at her.
"Excuse me?" He asked, staring at her.

Hailey Heart slipped into the doorway, and leaned on the frame. She stalled out a little, as a small expression of something flickered onto her face, but was gone in an instant. "Hello Captain Rogers." She smiled, smoothly, employing that, she, was his new partner. He was tall, and handsome. His sandy blond hair, complemented his azure blue eyes. He is wonderful, is he really my partner? She smiled, hoping none of her thoughts flickered onto her face. |

Steve stared at the girl and sighed. "You're kidding right?" He said, grouchiness from the lack of sleep finally getting to him. He crossed his arms and exclaimed, "She's a she!" For lack of a better phrase he'd stuck with that. He knew it hadn't been the nicest thing to say, but he'd been unable to get another phrase to mind, so he'd been left stuttering for a few moments before blurting out what he had. He blinked and stared at her.

She frowned, but wiped it away a moment later. She was a woman, so she had better get used to this type of treatment. "Sorry, Captain. I didn't think myself being a woman would bother you." She forced a hurt tone into her voice, it wasn't all that hard to do, but she still had to force it in there.
She took a glance down the hall, one which she would love to race herself down, but she stayed where she was, adding to her calm demeanor. [/center] |

Steve sighed, "Who are you?" He asked, arching a brow and leaning against the door. The other woman had left so he and Hailey were left alone. He just wanted to get over this, he was tired and his body ached from a hard day of training. He sighed once more, "Sorry...about my outburst...I'm just a little tired..." He glanced at the ground and then looked back up, his azure eyes betraying nothing.

She sighed, and leaned against the door frame more heavily. "I'm Hailey. Hailey Heart." She held out her hand for him to shake. She let a small smile slide onto her face, but a natural smile, portraying nothing. "It's not a problem. I'm used to being criticized or being a woman." She let lose an involuntary sigh. She was a bit fed up with being undermined just because she was a woman. She had been through Project Rebirth had she not? [/center] |

Captain Rogers sighed, and shook her hand. "Captain Steven Rogers." He said in a tired tone and let his hand fall after a moment of a firm shake. "It's nice to meet you, I suggest you go find your room and get some sleep, you have a big day tomorrow."

She sighed, and dropped her hand after he had dropped his. She nodded. "I know Captain. We have nothing but big days." She smirked at the truth in her words. She turned on her heel, and walked out the door. She looked over her shoulder. "Good night Captain." She smiled, and let the door slid closed behind her. She walked to her room, and slid the door shut, and flopped onto her bed, face down. She forced herself into sleep, and her dreams were filled with the possibilities of life. |

Steve rolled his eyes and laid down onto the bed. Her words were true and the truth of it was hard to ignore. Tomorrow he would have a partner, tomorrow he would move to a new location. Great. It sounded like such fun. But for some reason he felt connected somehow to Hailey Heart...as though he knew he had a future a head of him that had her in it. With a yawn Steve closed his eyes and fell asleep.

The next morning Hailey stood, and pulled off her clothes from the day before. Her mind was off in another, nicer, world. She grabbed her 'suit' and pulled on the Red White and Blue garment. It was more comfortable than it looked. She sighed, and opened her door.
She walked across the hall, as her door shut.
She wrapped her knuckle on the Captain's door three times. [/center] |

Steve was just getting out of the shower. He slipped on a pair of shorts and walked to the door and opened it. "Hey." He said with a faint smile and opened the door wider. "You ready?" He asked, grabbing a shirt and slipping it on. He grabbed his suit and glanced back at her.

She had not expected him to answer the door half naked, and a small shocked expression lit up her eyes. She forced it away in the next moment. "Good morning." She responded, trying to stay neutral. And when he asked her if she was ready, a smile forced it's way onto her face. "Yes, Captain. I'm ready." She smiled, and her left eye winked slightly. She wasn't even sure what it meant, so she shrugged it off, wouldn't mean much to Steve, would it? |

Steve arched a brow when he saw her wink. He walked out the door without a word and walked down the hall, not seeing if she was at his heels or not. He didn't really understand why they'd given him a partner, but just decided to go with it.

She followed his example of a cool demeanor, and followed behind him. You are his partner, not his sidekick. Her brain scolded her.
She stepped out from behind him, and walked beside him. He was taller than her, but she made up for it by walking with a straight back and her eyes glued ahead. She walked down the hall, waiting for the turn to the doors that lead outside. |

Captain Rogers looked over at her. When they got to the door he opened it and held it for Hailey. He may be a soldier, but he was still a gentlemen and usually let the ladies go first. Even if this was his partner, someone who obviously didn't like the fact that "she was, in fact, a she" to get in the way.
