Steve coughed, blood spattering. He spat blood at the ground and snapped, "Kill me then. I'm the one you want." His wounds were almost done bleeding, which wasn't necessarily a good thing. "Let Hailey go, and kill me. I've lived the life I was born to live. I deserve to die." He told Victor. "Just do it, I'm near to it anyhow."

[Hailey Heart]

She heard him, and shook her head in panic. "No!" She coughed drawing the raptor's attention. "Steve...I-I won't let you!" She coughed more, trying to roll to her knees and stand, but she couldn't get purchase on her slippery pool of blood. She managed to get to her knees. "Hey, lizard." She coughed again, waving her arms. "Come and get me."

"Hailey, stop it," he snapped and slammed his shield into Victor, "Over here you oversized reptile!" He spat. "Leave her alone!" He snarled, going around Victor and standing in front of Hailey. "I'm right here, just do it," he snapped, his own blood starting to pool around his feet. "Hailey, I'm sorry," he said as he slammed the shield once more into Victor to irritate him. He raised a gun and shot, the bullet hitting right where Hailey's glass dagger had created a small hole. Then he dropped both his weapons.

[Victor Veloci]

Victor turned to Hailey, right before he had been about to lunge for Steve. He hissed in dingy laughter. He stalked over to her, circling. He smiled cruelly, and snapped an inch from her face. He hissed in laughter as she flinched away. He picked up her trashcan lid in his talons, and morphed into his human self, using the shield as protection. "So, the mighty Mistress Liberty." He smiled, and kicked her to the ground. "Cut down by a raptor." He laughed, and it sounded like the hiss of a raptor. He looked to Steve, and collected his gun, and shield. "I'm not going to kill you. I'm going to make you watch me kill her." He smiled, and pushed Steve to the ground, hard. He turned back to Hailey. "Any last requests?"

[Hailey Heart]

She looked at Steve, from her position on the ground. "Don't be. I was the idiot who tried to do this alone." She looked away from him and back to Victor. "I have two requests." She growled at him, spitting out another mouthful of blood. "One; don't touch him." She sent a soft glance to Steve. "And two; fight me like a man. Not as a raptor; I'm beat to hell. You've got a good shot. Kill me, as a human, not as a scared boy hiding in a raptor's skin." She challenged, looking slightly at Steve, apology in her eyes.

"Hailey no!" shouted Steve, trying to get up, but falling back to the ground when pain shot through his wounds. "Hailey, listen to me, you need to live! Victor, kill me! I'm the one who broke Sam's heart, not Hailey!" He pulled himself up and snapped, "Come on, or are you too afraid to do it?"

[Victor Veloci]

He smiled to Hailey. "I accept." He smiled cruelly, and glared at Steve. "What better way to make you suffer than to kill the woman you picked?" He smiled and turned back to Hailey. He turned back to Steve. "Oh, and if you try and interfear, I'll kill her in the most painfully slow way I know." He smiled, and winked turning back to Hailey again. "When ever you want."

[Hailey Heart]

She nodded, giving Steve a sympathetic look. "Okay, go." She forced herself to her feet, and lunged expectantly for Victor, catching him around the waist, and ripping to the ground. "Steve, get out." She shouted as Victor rolled on top of her, and slammed his fasts into her many wounds.

Steve tried to interfere, tried to. He threw a brick at Victor, but it missed...horribly. It landed right next to the villain on his right side. Steve snapped, pressing a hand over his stomach where one wound was still bleeding, "Do you really think Sam would like you killing Hailey? Her heartbreak was caused by me and me-" He wasn't able to finish the sentence.

[Victor Veloci]

Victor saw the brick and growled at Steve. "You interfeared, now you're going to watch her die. Painfully slow." He laughed, and looked back to Hailey, but she wasn't where she had been a few seconds before. "Where are you, pest." He looked around, but didn't see Hailey clinging to the building behind him. He turned around, back to Steve. "Catch. He threw the brick and it hit him in the head.

[Hailey Heart]

She climbed up the wall when he wasn't looking, using her fingers, and clinging to the shards of broken glass from Sully. She cut her palms, but didn't let go as more blood dribbled down her arms. She watched the brick slam into Steve's head, but the way he slumped, she knew he wasn't dead.
I'm sorry Steve. If I survive, please forgive me... She jumped from the wall, using all the force she had in her legs. She slammed into Victor's pack, his face colliding with the shattered concrete. She picked up a chunk of it in her torn hands, and slammed it into the back of his head until he stopped moving. He was knocked out, but still breathing.
She rolled off of him, and limped over to Steve, where she collapsed by him, similar to their first mission.

Steve's eyes opened and he spotted Hailey next to him. He pushed himself to his feet and he picked her up. "Don't you dare leave me," he said hoarsely. He carried her away from the site, his legs close to failing him, but he couldn't let that happen, he couldn't drop Hailey, they had to get through this.

[Hailey Heart]

She was on the verge of unconsciousness, but she felt him pick her up. "Can't get rid of me that easily, Cappy." She smiled faintly, her gray eyes opening, looking up at him. She saw the blood all over him, and she was sure it wasn't all hers. She remembered the knife. Steve..."
She pressed both of her hands onto the crimson hole in his shirt. "I told you to get out of there. She whispered, looking up at him. She bit her lip, an looked into his eyes. "Don't die for me. I'm not worth it."

Before he could stop himself, his knees weakened and he collapsed, the old wound in his leg sending jolts of pain through him. Hailey rolled out of his arms and he fell to his hands and knees. "...Hailey..." he murmured, trying to drag himself to her side, but he collapsed and coughed up a little blood, but there wasn't much left for him to let up.

[Hailey Heart]

She rolled out of his arms, and he face slid across a shard of glass. She winced, an saw Steve hit the ground. "Steve!" She forced herself up, ignoring the stream of blood into her eye from the new cut above her left eye. She crawled over to him, cutting her knees and shins on more glass.
She reached him, and pulled him into her lap, getting him off the glass, and wrapping her arms around him, cupping her hands over the wound in his chest. "Shh...I've got you. Stay with me Steve. I can't lose you. I love you. Stay with me." She whispered softly to him, she couldn't lose him, not now, not ever.
