She frowned at him, knowing he was lying. "I was in a war. Don't lie to me when you're hurt." She looked him in the eyes, sliding her hand over his when he pressed his pinkey and thumb to his head. "What's wrong? And don't lie this time." There was real consern in her eyes. She didn't want him to hurt, not after he stopped her from jumping. Not after he gave her hope that ot wasn't over. She set her teeth on her lip, waiting for his reply.

Bruce sighed, "Just a little lightheaded that's all." He leaned back and closed his eyes. He took in a breath and let it out, grimacing as pain tore through his side, but not making a big deal of it. He sighed and looked at Hailey, opening his eyes. "Don't worry about me." His deep rasping voice spoke gently. Her hand was still on his and he looked down at it, gently intertwining his fingers with her's, smiling faintly. He sighed again and raised his dark eyes towards her, his mouth twitching. He still didn't understand the strange connection between the two, but there was something he could sense it. He didn't want her to know aout his side, but he couldn't hide it forever, that much he knew.

She frowned, knowing he was still lying. "It's more than that." She leaned in, smiling as she glimpsed their hands. She used her free hand and gently grabbed the hem of his shirt. She lifted it a little. "Let me help you." She felt slightly awkward lifting his shirt but she wanted to help him, badly. "Please. Just let me help." She begged him with her eyes. She knew it was the least she could do for him. He had given her so much tonight, and she wanted to at least try and pay him back. "Please?"

He looked at her. He knew she wanted to help, but he didn't want her to worry about him. He looked down at their hands intertwined together. After a moment of though, Bruce sighed through clenched teeth so it came out like a hiss. "Fine..." He gently raised his shirt so she could see. The wound was oozing yellow liquid that was puss that was mingled with the red of blood. Around the gash it was puffy and red, it was obviously infected. But it was also the poison that had made it infect so quickly. He grimaced as a wave of lightheadedness came over him and a cold sweat slipped down his hairline onto his forehead. He closed his eyes briefly, he didn't feel well at all.

She wasn't sure what she had expected the wound to look like, but it wasn't this. She didn't let anything pass on her face as she gave his hand a gentle squeeze. She slid off the couch and knelt next to him, wondering what to do. "Do you have rubbing alcohol?" She knew it would burn like hell, but it was all she could think of for the infection. She chewed on her lip absently as she wondered about what to do with what was obviously poison. She looked up at him, hoping her worry didn't show in her face, bit she had the feeling her eyes gave her away. "I don't know what to do for the poison." She admitted ashamed.

Bruce nodded, against gritted teeth he replied, "It's in the cupboard above the stove. I can get it," He stood but was struck with a headache and pain in his side, so he sank back into the chair with a groan of pain. He barely felt her hand squeeze his, his mind was too busy with the overwhelming pain, which had yet to fade. He took a few deep breaths and swallowed.

She stood, letting her fingers slip out of his. "I'll get it. Just relax." She backed away and limped into the kitchen. She opened the cabnet, and frowned, she was just a little to short to just reach up and get it. :sorry counter..." she muttered. She grabbed the counter andbpulled herself up onto it. She winced as her le protested, bleeding a little bit again. She ignored it, and garbbed the rubbing alcohol. She slid down from the counter wincing again as her leg dragged across it. She limped back over to him, kneeling down at his side again. She uncapped the bottle and slid it it into her right hand. She slid her left hand back into his, I intertwining her fingers with his. "This is going to sting, a lot. I'm sorry." She poured a little of the alcohol onto the wound, her hand there for him to squeeze if he needed to.

Bruce's skin was pale, the color had long since faded on his cheeks. He gritted his teeth when she came back, limping. He wanted to ask her about it, but didn't have to voice. Her fingers slipped into his and as the alcohol was poured onto his skin. The pain incredible. It stole away his breath and he was hardly able to let out a low groan of pain as he gritted his teeth and his jaw clenched. Unknowingly his hand clenched hers, his eyes squeezed shut.

She winced in pain as he squeezed her hand, but she didn't say a thing. She set the rubbing alcohol down and slipped her right hand into his other hand, giving him more to hang on to. "That's it for the rubbing alcohol. I promise." She muttered, seeing he was in horrible pain; if not agony. "I'm sorry. So sorry." She whispered, squeezing his hands trying to help him. "That's over." She whispered, scooting closer. She glanced at his side and it did look better as the alcohol bubbled up as it ate the infection. The only thing left to deal with was the poison.

He took a deep breath and slowly let go of her hands. "I'm sorry," he told her, voice pained, talking about clenching her hands too hard. He slowly opened his eyes and looked at her, "Thank you." Those two words that escaped from his lips were dripping with pain, but the wound did look better now that she'd put the alcohol on it...even though it hurt like hell. Bruce sucked in a breath and let it out shakily. His head thudded against the pillows when he leaned back. [[short...]]

She flexed her left hand but didn't have any trace of a scornful look in her eyes. "I'm fine. Are you alright?" She stood, limping around to the other side and lowering herslef onto the couch painstakingly slow as to not move or shake it in any way and cause him any more pain. "Not a problem, Bruce, it's the least I could do to even attempt paying you back, for everything." She let a warm and sincere smile slide onto her face. "Is there anything else I could do for you?"

After a moment Bruce nodded, "Yeah I'm alright, thanks to you." He gave a smile and nodded, "Yes actually, you can get up and go into that bedroom, climb into the bed and fall asleep." He watched her face, he knew she'd refuse it. He could already tell she's say no. His dark eyes watched her and silently urged her to get the rest she needed. He didn't mind sleeping on the couch. It was a pull out couch anyhow.

She sighed. "You let me onto your hotel room, I'm not going to take your bed." She leaned out a little bit, watching how hos dark, dark dark brown eyes followed her. She leaned back in again, finding her comfortable point of gravity. "I'm not going to do that." She muttered, stiffeling a yawn that threatened to ruin her calm demeanor. She smiled slightly, resisting the urge to loop her hand in his again, for his comfort and her own. She smiled faintly at him.

Bruce sighed. "Hailey, go on. I can sleep here, it's fine. I insist you take it." His dark eyes locked with her grey eyes. "Come on, for me?" He searched her gaze with the dark orbs of his own gaze. He doubted he'd be able to walk over there anyhow. Please?

She sighed, not able to say no. She slipped her hand into his, and let a half smile slither onto her face. "Fine, for you." She muttered, a look of mock exasperation on her face. "On one condition." She smiled a little more, looking back I into his insanely dark eyes. "You need to call of you need anything. Anything, at all." She squeezed his hand gently, feeling a strange connection that she could not place.
