It was a bullet to the heart for Oracle when she saw the anger swimming in his eyes. She just wanted to run to him and throw her arms around him, rip off that mask and look into the eyes she loved so much, but she couldn't. She couldn't even scream out his name when the bullet tore through his armor, the bullet that would have hit her. She could have avoided it, but still he stepped in front of her. She couldn't run to him and swing him around and inspect the wound, she couldn't even show the slightest bit of concern, she pushed the feeling when it bubbled into her eyes. She bit back a scream of his name instead she just smirked and twisted.

In the chaos of her fight, as she slammed her heals into a robber's back, she let her silvery eyes flicker to him, hoping he was alright, just wanting to press her hand against the wound to stop the blood that was spilling from the red crater. She wanted to pull him into her and kiss him, but she couldn't. She could later. But not now. Now she had mask her face and bit her lip from asking him with true concern if he was alright when the pain he tried to hide came bubbling up causing her to fight back running to him.

When she was Amelia, then she'd kiss him. But not now.

She smirked as her back slammed into him "accidentally" as a robber pushed her. A bang shattered the thin layer of silence and the bullet bit through her thin armor, causing her to wince. She jumped away flipping and slamming her feet into a robber's side that was sneaking up on Batman, causing him to glare at her.

He winced as she bumped into him, and hearing the gun shot, he turned to see if she was alright. There was still a possibility it was Amelia, and he cared. "Are you alright?" came his gruff disguised voice. Amelia had said she would follow him, but could Oracle be Amelia? He looked at her side, seeing the blood. He forced the worry from his eyes as she lept away.
He winced as he was hit during his moment of distraction. He stumbled forward at the foot that had been slammed into his bleeding shoulder. He winced as his back was shot twice as he fell to his knees.
He spit out some blood as he crawled away slightly, only to get kicked in the side. What type of robbers are these guys!?

He thought in pain as he crawled, another slug slamming into his back. Three in total. He rolled onto his back, wincing as he saw the red trail from where he had crawled...

There was a bang. She turned, Robin had been hit, his back, twice. He was on his knees, Oracle's eyes widened as he was attacked when he tried to crawl away, she begged her feet to move, begged herself to scream out his name, but nothing came. She could only watch in horror as he was attacked. The main robber ran into her, she stumbled backwards and he ran off. She heard Batman yelling at her to go after him, but she didn't. She just stood and then her feet obeyed her and she launched herself towards Robin, lashing out with fists and feet at the men around him. With more fury then ever before Oracle tumbled, and rammed her fist into the man who'd shot him's face. He fell backwards and she kicked at another man, all of the ones who'd hurt Robin. In a matter of moments after lots of their curses and punches and kicks from Oracle they all lay on the ground. Oracle rushed to Robin, falling to her knees beside him. She pressed her hand to his shoulder, snaking her other hand to his back where she pressed her palm against the first one she could find. She didn't care that her own side was bleeding all she cared about was Robin. Batman was beside her in a matter of moments. "I told you to go after him," he growled, "I also told you to stay out our way, because of you this happened." Despite the harshness of his words Oracle could hear the concern.

Robin gasped in pain as she pressed her hands to him. He looked up at her, seeing the worry in her eyes. "Why do you care?" He growled, spitting out a mouthful of blood. He winced at his side, his armor slightly crumpled from the kick. He winced as he drew in a breath, feeling as if a liquid was flooding his lungs, and it may have been his blood. He spit up more crimson liquid. Then he looked at Batman. "It's my fault. I'll go after him..." He tried to get free of her arms, but was to weak to do it.
He looked at her, seeing a concern in her silver eyes. Could it be Amelia? He mouthed her name softly, hoping the Batman wouldn't see. His brown eyes watched hers from behind the mask. He spit out another mouthful of blood, moving his hand to her side, gently pressing on her bleeding side...

Batman ordered Oracle to look after his partner as he left to find the robber. Oracle watched him leave then tore of her mask and took out her contacts, Amelia's blue eyes on him. "Shh...I'm here," she murmured gently, moving her hand to whip away some of the blood on his face. She gently kissed his forehead as she slipped the phone from her pocket. She was going to call either Gordon or Alfred...but neither knew about Oracle. She held Robin close to her, she wasn't going to loose him, not now, not ever.

He looked into her blue eyes, liking then so much better than the strange silver. He let his mask drop and gently onto the ground and gently put his hand on the side of her face, his other hand still pressed to her side. He smiled faintly up at her, looking away to spit out another mouthful of blood...

Blake looked at her, running a thumb over her cheek. There was so much pain in her blue eyes, and he guessed it was just mirroring his own pain. "Amelia, I-I love you so much." He cringed for breath at every word, a small tear sliding from his eye. "From the first day..." He tried to hold his hand to her face, but he was to weak to keep it there. It slipped from her face slowly, his head rolling to the side, his eyes sliding closed, his last breath sliding past his lips...

"Robin, no no..no no! NO! Please!" Amelia sobbed, catching his hand as it fell from her face. She brought it to her lips and kissed it, but his eyes had closed and one last shaky breath had passed through his lips. He was gone, and it was all her fault...if she hadn't been here...if she hadn't chose to become Oracle then maybe he wouldn't be dead. Tears slipped down her cheeks, splashing onto his. That one empty word escaped from her lips again and again...

She sobbed the word, holding his body up to her chest. She sobbed his name, Robin. He never liked that name, but she’d been the only one who could earn a smile from him by calling him that. His name jumbled with that empty word and at last she gripped her words and forced out three words that she’d never spoken, not for anyone. Three words that she’d wanted to tell him for a long time but had never mustered up the strength and now finally she did. And it was too late.

“I love you.”

She meant it and it made her cry harder that he couldn’t hear her speak the truth that she’d wanted to speak for so long. She leaned in and for the last –and the first- she pressed her lips against his wanting to feel him kiss her back, but there was only the cold surface of his lips.

“I love you.”

She murmured again and again with his name and the empty word – no.

Amelia sucked in a breath, kissed Robin’s lips, and stood. “I love you,” she murmured, grabbing her mask and her contacts. She hadn’t ever felt this angry before. She used her rage at Robin’s killer to silence her pain and her sorrow. She took a step and fell to her knees, sobbing into her hands, “Robin I’m so sorry…I failed you!” she murmured, voice shaking and trembling.

The only thing that made her rise to her feet and slip on the mask was the knowing that Batman would soon return, she had to leave. So she ran. Amelia’s tears stung her eyes as she ran, anger and pain and sorrow coursing through her veins, making her blood boil. The one person she had vowed she’d never loose…she’d lost. The one person she had promised to protect…she’d failed. The one person who was her heart…was gone. The one person that was her world…was gone. The one person whose iron grip on her heart would never fade…was gone. She’d never hear his voice or his laugh, never feel his kiss or his caress, and never smell his scent…she’d never laugh with him, she’d never kiss back, she’d never chide him while sewing up his wounds…she’d never do any of that again…and knowing that was a bullet slamming repeatedly into her heart at each smack of reality.

She may have fooled Batman and Robin with a name and a change of appearance....but she could never fool her heart. She leaped up onto the roof of a building and watched as Batman returned...

Batman couldn't catch the robber, he'd vanished into the shadows, and he needed to get back to Robin anyhow. He trusted that Oracle had kept him safe...but when he rounded the building with the words, "I couldn't catch him," on his lips he froze. There was his partner laying grey and lifeless on the ground.

Oracle was gone.

But Batman didn't care about her...all he saw was the limp body of Robin Blake...the only person he had ever wanted as a partner...sure he had allies as the bat but never had he wanted a partner until Robin came along and now he was dead...and Batman hadn't been there. He took a step forward, his eyes watering with tears. He blinked, he didn't cry...but never the less a small tear caress his cheek under the mask. He may have been dressed in the bat suit, but right now he was Bruce Wayne.

He went to his partner's side and went down on his knees, slipping off a glove, hoping to God that there was still a pulse. But he knew before his fingers touched Robin's cold, chalky pale, skin that he was dead. He slipped the mask off...his tears falling down his cheeks. "You were the only man I could ever want as a partner, Blake...I should have taken those bullets for you...[/b" But no words described the sadness that tore at Bruce's heart. He shouted into the night, suddenly blaming Oracle for the misfortune that had fallen upon his young partner, "This is your fault, Oracle! If you hadn't shown up he'd still be alive! You'd better run, because I'll be at your heels aiming to put you into Arkham right next to the Joker! Right where you belong!"

And up on the rooftop Amelia Smith fell into a fit of sobs as she ran back to her hotel room...she'd made an enemy of batty and lost the love of her life on top of it.
