She couldn't control the tears leaking from her eyes, they came one after another. She stood beside Jim Gordon as he protectively and comfortingly wrapped an arm around her shoulders. She turned, her blonde hair, with highlights of copper, cascaded over her shoulder and hid her face from view as she buried her head in his shoulder. Her black dress hugged her slim figure, now slightly under weight. There were dark bags under her eyes that announced her sleep loss. A bruise sent pain through her side whenever she moved, one of the many black and blue spots on her body, thanks to her nightly outings as the Oracle, where the Batman, her own cousin Bruce Wayne, hunted her as they leaped over rooftops and raced through alleys. She choked on a sob and Gordon gave her a tight yet gentle hug.

She stood beside Bruce, tears sliding down her own face, but no where near as many as her friend's. Her black dress was tight around her recently shrunken size. She was glad Alfred had agreed to watch James and Alexander. She looked over at her friend, feeling horrible for her. She tried to think what would she feel like if it was Bruce being buried. She shook her head, turning to hug him, knowing he was feeling bad too.... [/color] |

Bruce watched Amelia as her shaking figure was hugged by Jim Gordon. He swallowed a tightness in his throat, a choking lump that he had only had once before - when he's parents died. He looked away closing his eyes trying to push away an oncoming tear. He was unable however and it gently fell down his cheek. Why? he thought, why Robin? He gently put his arms around Hailey, holding her close.

When Jim first saw Amelia a tear slipped from his eye. Her hair was matted and tangled, dark bags hung under her eyes and she was skinny, very skinny. He had closed his eyes and looked away with a sigh, he couldn't believe how much she'd fallen apart. It had been about a week since Robin had died and he had offered to let her stay with him and his family, but she had rejected saying she was fine where she was. He had still found himself visiting her though. He hated leaving his family but they had understood that he needed to be with Amelia, he was so afraid that she'd do something to hurt herself. That was when he found out about the Oracle, and he knew who had caused those bruises, Bruce...the Batman. Part of him was angry at Bruce for doing that but he knew that Bruce didn't know who Oracle really was...So he said nothing, just allowed Amelia to cry into his shoulder as he held her protectively...like the father figure she saw him as. |

Hailey looked up at her husband, seeing the tear she felt horrible for him, and her best friend Amelia. She gently reached up and wiped it away, muttering not to cry. But, she was crying herself. She had never know Robin, or Blake as he preferred, but she knew he was a good man, and that Amelia loved him so much. She looked at Bruce, knowing she would be worse off than ever before...She felt horrible for both of them, and Gordon too, he was his officer...She stood in silence while the tears slid down her face. Amelia swallowed and stared into the coffin. She slipped out of Gordon's arms and slid to her knees beside the coffin, her dull azure staring at the body of the man she loved and would always love. "I'm sorry Robin...I've failed you...I should have taken those bullets for you...i should be the one who died, because i distracted you...I will always love you...always, you're my heart..my world...I'd do anything and everything for you and it's because of you that i'll keep living...keep on trying to move on from something i'll never move on from...because you're the only man I can ever love...And I'll never...ever stop love you...Never." Her hand gently caressed his cheek one last time.

Hailey blinked away more tears as she slipped from Bruce's arms. She heard what Amelia was saying as she gently touched his cheek one last time. She sighed and knelt beside her. "He loved you, so much..." She whispered, remembering the day in the he had given her the ring, but she didn't look to see if Amelia was wearing it right now. She gently wiped a tear from Amelia's face, looking at her softly, a gentle hand on her leg, giving her a gentle squeeze... |

Amelia looked at his still face and body until the coffin was closed. She swallowed and looked at Hailey and then down at the beautiful golden band with the diamond flanked by the sapphires to match her eyes. She fingered it, sliding it around on her finger. She hardly ever took it off. Only when she was Oracle would the precious ring leave her finger. Amelia knew she was slipping further and further into depression...and it hurt like a bullet to the heart everyday she would wake and put on her uniform. She hadn't been able to go to work, she would wake, put on her uniform and sob, Gordon would make sure she stayed home anyhow. Sullivan's words came back to her, Love is just a game, dear Amelia, when it's over you can't play the same game twice....

His eyes opened, Hel had done it. He was home. He chest was burning, and as he saw what he was wearing, he lifted the edge of his black vest on the tuxedo. There was a spot of blood on the white shirt, he knew it was from stabbing himself... He looked around, it was all dark, he reached forward, his fingers brushing on cold polished wood. He was in a coffin. He knocked on the wood, hoping he wasn't buried yet. If he was he'd never be able to see Amelia again. He started t pound his fists on the wood...

As soon as the pound echoed throughout the graveyard Amelia gave a yelp of surprise, leaping backwards, stumbling and falling to the ground, eyes wide. Couldn't be...could it? she thought, her eyes never leaving the coffin as Gordon came to her side and helped her to her feet. Gordon looked at her but her eyes were locked on the coffin. He gently stepped away from her and she watched as he went toward the coffin. Behind Amelia Bruce stared, eyes widening.

Blake took a deep breath, hoping to have his voice back. "Hello? Anyone there?" He shouted, sighing in relief as it was his voice, but wincing in horrible pain from his chest. He was unaware of the face that everyone stood, wide-eyed staring at his coffin. He sucked in a painful breath, and in a soft, yet loud enough to be heard, voice. "Amelia...?" There was a pain in his voice, and it was partly because he wanted to see her, so badly....and it was partly because he was in pain...

Jim glanced back at Amelia who was covering her mouth with her hand, eyes bleeding with tears. He beckoned her forward but she swallowed and shook her head. He sighed, remembering one of the dreams she'd told him she'd been having. She said that he was there one moment and the next she was cradling him dead again. Gordon knew she was afraid of that coming true even if there was somehow that he was alive. He gently put his hand on the coffin and flipped it open. "Need any help?" he offered, glancing at Amelia as he stuck out his hand for Robin, a little confused at how he could be alive, but he just smiled and decided that however it happened it was meant to be and he was just glad that Amelia would be happy again. |

He let lose a pained sigh as the coffin opened. His eyes closed for a moment, but then he opened them, a smile slipping onto his face as Gordon offered him a hand. "Lots..." He winced as he took his hand and pulled himself up and slipped out of his coffin, landing his feet on the ground with a wince. He felt the thin stream of his blood running down the front of his shirt, but didn't say anything as his eyes landed on Amelia. A smile spread across his face, and he opened his arms for her to hug him, knowing it would hurt. "Am I only three minutes late?" He whispered softly, loud enough for her to hear.

Amelia felt her tears come faster when she saw him. When he opened his arms she launched herself at him, slamming into him. She wrapped her arms his neck, burying her head in his shoulder, sobbing tears of joy. She pulled back slight, looking into his eyes. Without warning she pressed her lips to his, passionately and with desire. She put her hand up and cupped his cheek, brushing her fingers against his cheek and then back into his hair. She broke her kiss and gazed up into his muddy brown eyes.
And the sadness that had dulled her eyes was gone.
Her sapphire like eyes were glittering despite the dark bags underneath her eyes and the tangles and mats in her hair, despite how skinny she was.
Robin was alive and that was all she needed to gain that want to live again.

He winced in pain as she slammed into him, but he didn't care. He wrapped his arms around her, noticing her condition, he felt horrible, but it couldn't keep the joy from his eyes as he wrapped his arms around her, rubbing her back as she sobbed into his shoulder.
When she leaned back, he saw the light that he loved so much in her eyes, and when she pressed her lips to his, he kissed he back, with the same passion, and even more desire, he wanted to spend his life with her, his second chance. Hel had told him to make it count, and he planned to.
When she pulled away, he looked at her softly, one of his hands had moved to her cheek, and he gently brushed away her tears. He smiled gently at her, still feeling the blood drip down his chest, but the wince he had wasn't noticeable through the love in his eyes, and the smile on his face. "Amelia, I love you." He said it softly and gently pressed his lips back to hers, softly, but with the same passion as before...
