She smiled, seeing Bruce. She quickened her pace, smiling. She looped her arm in his, kissing him right back, a smile on her face. "You clean up nicely." She smiled at him, her stormy eyes looking into his dark brown ones. She didn't even notice anyone around her, all she saw was Bruce. She smiled, not sure if either one of them was thinking about the news from the doctor. [/color] |

Brooke leaned over the sink in her bathroom and finished with her eyeshadow before curling her eyelashes. Lifting her arm to eye level, she checked the time and sighed; she'd be cutting it close tonight. Grabbing her mascara she put some on, followed by lipstick. Her gaze moved to the reflection in the mirror and she brushed a stray piece of heir out of her face and used a little more hairspray. There; she didn't look like she was wearing too much make-up.
Satisfied, she walked back into her bedroom and headed straight to the closest and moved the clothes around until she found her dress. Smiling, she pulled out the black dress and took it off the hangar before changing into it. She struggled with the zipper for a moment and got it before putting on the rest of her jewelry.
Brooke headed for the door and grabbed her cell phone and a clutch bag before slipping into her high heels and left. It wasn't that long before she reached Stark Tower and took the elevator up to the right floor. The doors slid open and she was greeted with the mixed voices of people chatting and quiet laughter. Stepping out of the elevator, she looked around.

Selene sighed with a frown and looked at herself in the mirror. She really didn't want to go to this party at Stark Tower tonight. The reason was the simple fact that she didn't really know any of the other Avengers or S.H.I.E.L.D agents all too well. Still, she felt obligated to go no matter what. After all, she was a part of the team. Maybe now was the perfect time to get to know the others.
She smoothed her hands over the light blue fabric of the dress and brushed her curled hair out of her face with a soft sigh. After a moment she went out he front door and caught a taxi to Stark's. Once there she got out and took one of the elevators. She watched the numbers change as the floors passed and once it hit the floor the party was on she took a deep breath and exhaled as the doors opened before walking into the room. [/color] |

Bruce smiled at Hailey, "Why thank you, I can say the same for you." He led her further into the room, his eyes never leaving hers, but somehow he didn't run into anyone. His dark eyes were shining, all he saw was Hailey. And for, perhaps one of the first times in his life, he wasn't worried about raving lunatics, two-faced men, or a certain goddess of death, all he cared about was the beautiful woman in front of him. The woman named Hailey Heart, who had stolen his heart. |

Steve watched this man and Hailey. He wasn't certain what was going on, but Hailey kissed this man back. And then for a moment the man in the expensive black suit looked up, catching Steve's azure with his dark, seemingly black, eyes.
Steve stared, he didn't understand it. Who the hell was this man? He wasn't a SHIELD agent, nor was he an Avengers. Captain America knew most of the people here, Tony, Clint, Thor, Sam, Broden, Hailey, Brooke, and he could have sworn he'd seen Pepper somewhere, rushing around.

"there you go again with the smooth talking .. but i love it " she whispered softly and kissed him deeper while her hands cupped his cheeks gently. "thank you . you looks so handsome " she had a deep blush on her cheeks. She didn't know who the man that Hailey was kissing but she felt happy for the girl for finding someone else that hopefully made her happy.
She hoped that Hailey was happy and that this man would love her the way she deserved to be loved. She wasn't sure what to think of Steve`s reaction but she didn't want to cause a scene for this thing. "i don't know who he is ? but I'm happy to see her happy " she said softly and looked around in the room.

Then Bruce Wayne saw Steve Rogers. And that was when all Hell broke loose. Bruce somehow just knew that, that was Steve. With anger narrowing his dark eyes, Bruce went towards Steve. His fist clenched and as he got up close to Steve his fist came out to punch him in the face.
He wasn't usually one to start something at a party, but this was the guy who had hurt Hailey. He glared at the man with the azure blue eyes. There was no happiness in his eyes, like there once had been when he was with Hailey, now there was only anger.
And it was all towards Steve. |

She smiled, looking into his eyes. She let him lead her into the room, her eyes locked on his. "Thank you." She smiled lightly. She still hadn't noticed anyone else, and she was enjoying Bruce's company, the dark gaze, the used to make her flinch, kept her held there, wrapped in love.
She looked up as Bruce let go, advancing towards none other than Steve. She saw him raise a fist, and knew what was coming. She was to late to block his fist from colliding with Steve's face, but she was fast enough to get between them, holding up her arms, her gray dress swishing around her calves. |

Steve's jaw cracked...or was that his nose? He couldn't tell. He glared at the man, who's dark eyes threatened. For a moment Steve wasn't quite sure what had happened, all he knew was that the palm of his hand collided with skin....and it wasn't Bruce's face that he hit...it was Hailey's...who had stepped in at the last possible minute, blocking Bruce from Steve's attack.
Captain America glanced from his fist to Hailey's reddening cheek. Horror appeared in his azure eyes as he tried to stutter out an apology, but was unable. Steven Rogers could only stare at the woman who had once been his partner in utter silence and horror.

She winced as her face was hit full force by a super soldier. She felt the heat going to it as it swelled. She reached up with her hands, covering the side of her face as she backed up, bumping into Bruce. Sure, Steve had broken her heart, but she had never expected to be hit by him. They were....no....had been...partners, and they had helped each other survive, and he just slammed his fist into her face. She looked at him, her eyes watering from the pain. Her eyes were screaming at him: How could you? Why would you? But she said nothing, she only looked at him. Her hands covering her face. [/color] |

Bruce stared at Steve. His eyes widened when the super soldier's palm came up and smacked Hailey full force in the face. For a moment the three of them just stood there then Hailey's hand went up to cover her face, while Steve blinked and looked from his hand to Hailey's cheek. Bruce's anger came over him in a rush and he stepped forward, slamming his fist into Steve's stomach, eyes glowering at Rogers.
He put a protective arm around Hailey and pulled her close to him, gently taking her hand away from her cheek to have a look at her cheek. He looked at the reddening bump and glared at Steve with intense nearly black eyes. |

"Hailey...I-I..." stuttered Steve, still in a state of shock. Then Bruce's fist came up and punched him full force in the stomach at the base of his ribcage...and Captain Rogers could have been sure something cracked, but then again that could have just been his jaw slamming together. He stumbled slightly, bumping into Sam. He doubled over slightly, coughing and trying to regain his breath. His nose was now dripping blood, yeah Bruce's fist had hit his nose and not his jaw. Dammit The look that had been in Hailey's eyes, the look of How could you? shot a bullet deep into Steve's heart... |

He nodded at Clint before hearing some commotion. “Excuse me” he said to Clint before excusing himself to find what was going on. He could see four people, Hailey, Steve, Sam and some other mortal of Midgaurd were getting into a big fight and it was going to get worse, so he had to do one thing…
“ENOUGH!!!” Thor said as he slammed his hammer into the ground which created a shake within Stark Towers, not damaging or harmful but was able to stop what was going on. Thor raised his hammer before looking at the four. “Please…enough…all of you” he said to them. “There is no need to be fighting or throwing fists. This is a time of celebration not danger and the past which I can see” he told them before looking and checking Hailey. “Are you alright?” he asked Hailey AND STEVE, his friends and fellow Avengers. He didn’t like what he saw and all he was trying to help the two.

She grabbed a tissue from the table and thrust it into his hand, backing away again. She looked to Thor, who was a good friend to her. "I'll live." She forced a small smile onto her face, he was right, after all. It was a party, not a fight. She turned burring her face in Bruce's jacket, not looking at Steve, or Sam, or Thor. She wanted to leave right then and there, but she had come to spend time with Bruce, so that was what she was going to do. She pulled her face back a little, her hand still covering the side of her face as she looked up at him. There was no anger in her eyes, only love, and pain. [/color] |

Bruce looked at Thor. He seemed kind of arrogant, but Batman forced a stiff smile onto his face. He put an arm around Hailey and held her close to him, leaning down to gently place a kiss on her forehead. He sighed, looked at Steve with narrowed eyes, and then back at Hailey, her love being mirrored in his own dark eyes.
He turned back to Thor and said, "I'm sorry...sir....I shouldn't have started something...I'm Bruce Wayne.." He put his other hand out for the god to shake. |
