The war changed everyone, everything. It was hard to believe that just days before Manhattan had been peaceful, then one day ripped all that apart and shattered everything. Heroes had surfaced to bring hope back to light. However some responded differently to the heroes. Some welcomed them into the society while others didn't like the idea, so Steve Rogers kept to himself. However he didn't go into a shell, something he had started to fold into before the war.
It was only hours after that event that changed all of Manhattan and Steve was sitting in the mansion, body aching and wishing for sleep to come. However it did not and he was left to sit at the table and stare at the counter top. A sigh exited his mouth as his thoughts wandered to Sam, he wondered if she was okay. He hadn't seen her around and at that moment felt his worry mounting. He wanted to go and look for her, but his legs wouldn't move, they ached too much for that. |

This was something she had never wanted and only now could she understand how foolish she had been for wanting to be part of the battle. She was tired and cold and her heart longed for her precious captain , she wanted to hear his voice whisper sweet little nothings to her and she wanted to make a home with him. This battle had showed her that no matter how hard she tried she would never be her sister , nor would she be as strong as she wished she was.
She was saddened that only some of the people were grateful for them saving their asses and the rest wanted them gone or dead. She sighed heavily and looked at her bruises and the shells of ice around her feet. "This is something i never wanted .. to take lives " she said softly and began to walk trough the rubble with her eyes on the horizon with the small hope of finding her captain , her beloved Steve.
She walked with tears trailing down her cheeks and she prayed that her Steve was alright and safe but her heart seemed to enjoy tormenting her with the doubt , the awful of finding him buried underneath the rubble somewhere.She walked faster and tried to reach the mansion to see who made it back. it took her a while to get there and once she was inside she bit down on her lip hard, as she hoped that everyone was safe , even her sister though during the battle she had hoped ,only just a little that she would disappear. She hated that her sister ,who could be so cold could have people like her presence with ease.
She felt awful for wishing that and somehow she knew that deep inside she was so envious of her sister being so special , her whole life and she didn't stop to think of why broden was closed off in some ways,, it didn't matter to SAM. "Hey ..anyone in here?" she yelled out tiredly as she stumbled inside.

Steve stood up hurriedly when he heard that voice that he loved. He bolted from the room and as Sam stumbled her caught her in his strong arms, holding her close to him. "Are you alright?" He asked gently, his arms around her. His blue eyes searched hers as he brushed the hair from her face. He kissed her forehead softly and offered a small faint smile.
He looked her over, she didn't seem to be too badly wounded. He just spotted a few bruises, and he made sure to avoid those when he hugged her, gently, against his broad chest, running his hand through her hair, careful to avoid the knots that had been created due to the war. He was just glad she was okay. |

Sam smiled softly as she saw her lovely captain rush to her side and envelop her in his strong arms "I'm fine . just a bit beaten up that's all " she said softly and took in his scent , for a moment forgetting everything else. "how are you feeling?"
she stayed in his arms for a bit longer and loved how safe it felt."i love you so much .. i was so worried i might have lost you " she whispered out weakly ,almost choking on the words. his gentle touches removed her worries and made her feel a spark of happiness and hope " marry me ?" she asked softly with a bright smile on her lips.

Steve smiled and told her, "I'm better now that you're here." He kissed her head and said softly, "I love you too, Sam." He brushed the hair from her face and kissed her cheek gently. When she asked him a simple two word question he smirked softly, "Aren't I supposed to ask that?" He teased and reached into his pocket, producing a small black box. He flipped it open. "Sam, will you marry me?" He asked softly, looking at her with hopeful blue eyes as he held the diamond ring in his hand. |

Sam sighed in relief as she had her true love close to her now and being in his arms made all the pain disappear."I'm much better too . now that I'm with you " she smiled and rested her head on his chest being a bit shorter than him."hmm i couldn't wait forever .. and its the only thing i want . to be with you and be yours completely and you were taking a bit long " she teased playfully and kissed his chin. She blushed and smiled happily as he asked her in soft and gentle voice if she would marry him "Of course i will .. i love you with all my heart " she smiled and stood on her tiptoes to reach up and kiss his lips.

Steve grinned. There wasn't another person on the earth that he'd rather marry. He slipped the ring onto his fiance's finger as he kissed her back, holding her in his arms. All of his aching went away, just her being there healed that. He broke the kiss to murmur into her ear, "Sam I love you." He grinned at her, brushing the hair from her face and tucking it behind her ear.

Sam smiled brightly and looked into his eyes sweet kind blue eyes as he slipped the ring onto her finger while her lips pressed against his in loving need."mhm .. i love you so much Steve . your the only one for me " she smiled and kissed his lips more deeply. " i want to grow old and grumpy with you . "

"I love you too." Steve grinned at her. "You're the only one for me, Miss Coffee." He laughed at her comment about growing old. "You're the only I would grow old with." But he knew that because of the super soldier serum he wouldn't be growing old. |

"good .. you better love me .. if not i might not bare it " she smiled and looked at him " well im only yours Captain ." she smiled and giggled trying envision herself with wrinkles and grandkids " youre the only i want to be old and wrinkly with " she smiled and winked at him.

"I'm glad to hear it, Miss Coffee, you're the only one I want." He chuckled, trying to picture them with wrinkles creasing their skin. He winked right back at her, "And even old and wrinkly, you'll still be as beautiful as you are now."
