Personality: {Cyclops is very confident and self-assured, almost egotistical and cocky. His somewhat arrogant attitude has led to him being called a jerk by Wolverine and others, but he is, in fact, a stand-up guy. He loves Jean Grey. He is a good coach, motivating and leading his students with a mix of firmness and gentle behavior. He would sacrifice himself to save any member of the X-Men. You can't ask for more from a military leader than that.
Cyclops is an awesome military leader and a hell of a fighter. On top of his optic blasts, he is a great hand-to-hand combatant. His increased spatial awareness allows him to nail knockout points like a pro boxer, and his defenses are as good as a martial artist's. After years of experience, Cyclops is arguably one of the most accomplished warriors in the X-Men.

History: {Cyclops has powerful twin concussion beams shooting from his eyes at all times. He cannot turn them on and off at will, not even now, after twenty years of training. Out of costume, he has to wear special shades made for him by Xavier to control them, and he wears a similar visor on his battle costume. This has robbed him of true eye contact, and he hopes to someday learn to control the internal switch, so that he can finally, once and for all, put down the shades and look people in the eyes.
Cyclops' love for Jean Grey can be, and has been, exploited. He cannot look people in the eyes, which saddens him. He can be overpowered by beings like Juggernaut, and KO'd by Rogue and other mutants, or even crushed to death by his rival and archenemy, Avalanche.
