Scott Summers sat down on a bench in the park. The chilled air bit at the exposed skin of his neck, face, and hands. He sighed, a foggy vapor curling the air.
It had been about two months since Jean had chosen Logan over him, and he was over his bitter feelings, mostly. It still sent ice flying through his heart when they would kiss, and embrace, but he had learned to hide it, he was becoming very good at hiding his emotions.
But that wasn't why he was here in the park today. He was here to see his friend Maggie. Margaret Wolf. He was the only one to call her Maggie. He smiled at the thought. She was a normal human, and he hadn't shared his powers with her yet. He wondered why she was never curious of why he never took off his sunglasses, even inside.
He smiled a little more, he was meeting her here today, and was going to show her at some point. That's why they were meeting at the park, not in the bar as they normally would. He sighed as he waited for her.

Maggie didn't know what today would bring and she had known her friend Scott Summers for a good year and a few months, the man was rather interesting. She wondered a few things but never asked him about it, like he never removed his sunglasses. She was curious behind the point, but she was afraid of digging into his business and figured that one day he would give her the story on it. So he wanted to meet her some place different, sure they spent time at the park before. But not when it was starting to get cooler.
Sticking her hands in her pockets of her black jacket, and humming a little as she looked up ahead of herself. And smiled very happily. Seeing him there waiting for her, but the expression on his face made her wonder if something was wrong. She had been by his side when he lost his Jean, Maggie had a huge crush on him. But because what happened with him and Jean she hid her feelings. And with there being a nine year age difference she was afraid he wouldn't want it. And afraid of getting rejected by someone she fully loved.
"Hey Scotty!" She said as she sat down and reached over kissing his cheek. Smiling.
"you okay my friend?" She said softly.

Scott smiled as his good friend called out his nickname. Scotty If anyone but her called him that, he would probably give them a shot from his lazier, but never Maggie.
He smiled as she kissed his cheek. He had found he had feelings for her, after she had been there for him, no matter what after Jean. But he didn't know with the nine year age difference, and he didn't want to ruin their friendship by asking.
He laughed happily and put his arms around her. "And how is Ms. Maggie this morning?" He smiled at her, leaning his head back so his nose wouldn't be pushed on hers. A smile danced across his lips.

Maggie smiled at him happily and enjoyed the feeling of his arms being around her, made her feel so relaxed and comfortable. "I am doing alright Scott, makes me wonder if everything is okay. You never ask to meet me early in the morning or in a park, things okay?" She said rather concerned but right now she didn't know what to think, she wanted to tell him she loved him, but how the hell do you tell someone like him that. He was an amazing guy, and he had a motorcycle, though she hated motorcycles and never had been on one.
"So if something is up talk to me, you know I can keep secrets"

He sighed inwardly. "I haven't been entirely honest with you...and I'd like to redeem myself this morning, by showing you what I have been hiding." He said gently, leaning his head in a little more, resisting the urge to just close the gap and kiss her.

She looked at him and was taken back, wondering what he meant by that "What do you mean? What have you hidden from me" She said, giving him a smile to show she wasn't angry. She had a feeling he had a reason for not telling her. So the smile she gave was very warm, and she truly was open to anything. Since her parents tried like hell to get her to see mutants as bad people. Sure some were bad like the brotherhood, but knew people like the xmen that they were good. At least some were good.

Scott smiled faintly at her, but it was a fake smile. In all the time he knew he, he had never thought to ask how she felt about mutants... He knew her parents hated them, and he was afraid she would hate them too, and in turn hate him, especially for not telling her. "I'm....I'm a mutant..." He said quietly, he wasn't sure in any way how she would react, and he was actually quite scared he would lose her...

Maggie was taken back by what he told her. The man she loved was a mutant, and now in the back of her head she felt she had been totally lying to the man she loved. Looking down she closed her eyes and sighed sadly. And realized that the only thing she had lied about was her parents. She told him they died a few years ago, but they were really alive and well. But she did accept what Scott was, and reached over and took his hand in hers. And looked up into his "eyes" behind the sunglasses.
"Scott...I have always been honest with you accept for one thing, I told you when we met that my parents died. That was actually a lie. My parents have disowned me, when I was five years old I met another gifted. She had the ability to make fire balls and I use to call her a little fire bug, though I meant it as a term of endearment she knew that of course. My parents demanded I stop hanging out with her, and told me if I didn't they would hurt her, so I was forced to say goodbye to protect her.
I have 168 IQ Scott I graduated when I was only sixteen, music was my life so I was able to use it to get away from my parents. They told me that if I walked out the door id be dead to them, so I gathered what meant everything to me and left. They wanted me to hate mutants, and just the thought of there daughter wanting anything to do with people who were different. Honestly Scott you are my only friend, I have never had a boyfriend because no one liked my ideas of being equals.
But when I am with you, you make me feel like I can tell you anything. I just didn't know how to tell you about my parents, because they hate so much. So in a way they are dead, they are dead to me" She said looking down at him ashamed of herself, ashamed she kept it from him.

Scott's own parents had kicked him out in the cold after they discovered he was a mutant. He was very young too. "Maggie..." He said quietly.
He felt o badly for her. That her parents had tried to force her into hating mutants, but he was relieved she didn't, it would have made walking away harder than he could have ever imagined possible.
He could never leave her, not without leaving part of himself behind. When she looked away, he gently grabbed her chin with soft fingers. He tilted her head up to him, and after a moment's hesitation, he kissed her. Ever so gently, he pressed his lips to hers. He thought, as an after thought, that this might screw them up...but it was too late to change his mind...so he kept his lips softly on hers...

She just couldn't look him in the face, and when he said her name she was afraid that he would hate her. That he would yell and tell her that he was disappointed. But then she felt his fingers lightly grasping her chin and she opened up her eyes. It was hard but she looked at him and before she knew it his lips were on her own. Shock was in her face, surprised he would love her. Everything in her body wanted to just scream out in pure joy, but something in her stopped her right then and there.
She had never been kissed, never been loved so she was new to everything. And she returned the kiss, her hands were on his chest and went up and wrapped her arms around him. Returning the kiss as she enjoyed the thought of being loved. She rested a hand on his cheek but didn't go for his sunglasses, pretty much her way of asking if that was why he always wore his sunglasses. He wore them even at night which was strange she thought, but now it all made sense. She loved him more then anything and was able to show it now.

Scott felt her hands move from his chest to around him. He hadn't know the feeling of love, well..He knew what loving felt like, but he never knew what being loved felt like. But if this was it, he knew he'd enjoy every second of it.
He felt her hand on his face, her fingertips just below his 'sunglasses' maybe she was asking if that was why he always wore them. He would have nodded, but he didn't want to break the contact of their lips. So, he held still.
One of his hands gently moved up her back to her head. He gently ran his fingers through her silky hair. The heat of their breath, coming from their noses fogged his glasses to the point he couldn't see, but his eyes weren't open. He was completely focused on her. And only her.

She realized that they were both in love with each other, and it was a rather wonderful feeling really. Her eyes were closed and enjoyed the feeling and realized she needed some air. Holding him close and the kiss broke on her end since she needed air, and smiled when she looked at him. "Ive loved you for several months, but I didn't know how you would think of me. I mean age differences aren't really a big deal in this day in age, but mostly it was about you and Jean." She said not wanting to hurt him.
"But I am glad you are so wonderful Scott, and you being a mutant doesn't effect how I feel about you Scotty. Frankly I am honored you trust me so much to tell me, so I am guessing that your sunglasses you wear all the time because of your powers? I am sure you found it strange I never asked about it, but I didn't want to pry I figured that you would tell me when you felt comfortable" It got her curious what his pwoers were if it had something to do with his eyes"

Scott took a deep breath as she pulled away. He hadn't even realized he had been holding his breath. But his brain had figured out that she loved him just as much as he had grown to love her.
He silently let her talk. He actually quite loved it when she would babble. Though she only ever babbled slightly, not endlessly as some people did. He tightened his arms around her ever so slightly, a silently cry for her to not leave.
When she went on about his glasses he gently put a finger to her lips. "Maggie....instead of saying a million things, let me show you." He teased softly, he had always loved to tease her about her babbling. "If you want to see of course." He said softly, leaning his forehead down onto hers, the rim of his glasses nudging her forehead softly.

Maggie didn't even realize she babbled half the time, actually she never realized she babbled which sucked since she felt stupid when she babbled. But then feeling his finger on her lips and when he said what he did. She smiled at him, and heard that he was willing to show her if she wanted it. And that meant the world to her as well, she nodded to him. And really was happy "Id love that Scott, since it's early enough to not have anyone see it. I wouldn't want people to give you a hard time" She said and kissed his nose.
Pulling away a little so he could show her, she had no idea what he could possibly do and it was a really wonderful moment. Since he co uld show her anything and it was time to show him that.

Scott smiled faintly down at her. That was exactly why he had asked her to meet him early, and at the park. There was a spot, if you were to walk back a couple hundred yards, a small clearing in the trees, but he didn't want to take her there, not all the way sure she would want to come, no matter the amount of privacy it offered.
He released her reluctantly from his arms, slowly letting his finger fall from her lips. His entire front side was cold now from the lack of her body pressed against his. He didn't let himself shiver, however.
He was glad she wanted to see, and he wasn't just going to be showing his power just to show it. He was afraid...and he didn't want the possibility of hurting her to even exist. So, he stepped back from her, and turned to the side. "Don't jump." He said quietly.
He lifted his glasses up, but his eyes were squeezed shut. He slowly let them open, but the very millisecond they did, the red concussion ray shot from his eyes. He heard them slam into a tree, and hearing the bark snap, he shut his eyes firmly before returning the glasses to his face.
He turned to face her, but didn't walk towards her, he was going to let her come to him, just in case he had frightened her...
