Personality: {Jane is rebellious, if she doesn't agree with something it's unlikely that she'll do as she's told, which leads in to her slightly out of control behavior. However, most of her out of control behavior comes from the bi-polar condition she suffers from and is forced to take pills for. Also because of this, she experiences severe mood swings when she hasn't taken the pills she's been prescribed.
She can also be loud, she has no problem with being heard, in fact she doesn't care if the whole world hears her. This loudness is what defines most of her somewhat immature behavior. That, and the need to place blame on anyone other then herself, for example when her mother died she instantly blamed her brother, Matthew, because he'd placed her in the care of the Las Vegas psychiatric hospital. She's also over the top with emotions mostly, mainly anger.
She's a big flirt when the urge comes over her. She can be extremely seductive and persuasive when she wants to. Which leads into her ability to lie splendidly. There isn't a subject that Jane can't lie on. She could look anyone in the eyes and straight out lie, so it's hard to know whether or not she's telling the truth or not. Despite knowing when she's gone too far and when she needs to step back and close her mouth, Jane will put up a fight if she believes she's right.
Jane is a bit like her brother, Matthew, in the way that they're both observers but she is by far the louder of the two. Despite all her flaws, Jane is exceptionally intelligent even if she chooses not to invest her intelligence in school and instead found joy in starting fights when she was in school. She's also loyal, just because she's loud and can be slightly obnoxious doesn't mean that she can't be loyal to those she respects. }
History: {Jane Reid was born on September nineteen in the year of 1987 in Las Vegas, three years after her brother, Matthew Spencer Reid was born. She was brought into a world of constant arguments between William and Diane Reid, her parents. As a young girl, Matthew was the one she mainly went to for guidance as her mother suffered from paranoia and schizophrenia and their father was a well-known businessman. It was hard for Jane growing up with a mentally unstable mother and a father who found it difficult to cope with his wife's illness who fought constantly, despite the fact Diane Reid tried to be a decent mother for her children.
Since Matthew was the only one she could turn to for comfort, Jane was close to him for a while. She'd often run to his room for comfort during the night and end up falling asleep there. In turn for the comfort he provided for her, she would take it upon herself to beat up those who were bullying him at school despite their three year age difference.
However, at the age of nine her anger took over her, causing her to react rashly. During an argument on the way home from school she pushed her brother in front of a bus, which he stalked home from afterwards. She suspected that he would get revenge some way or another so she asked her father to accompany her to her room. Despite her father's presence she still reacted without thought when her brother jumped out from underneath her bed, resulting in his eye meeting her fist. She isn't ashamed to admit she felt rather smug when he got in trouble for scaring her.
When she was twelve, her father bought her a ginger cat for her birthday, which she named Hotspot. It wasn't long before the Reid family found that Matthew was allergic to cats, and a rule was set that the cat would not be allowed upstairs because of his allergy, but Jane broke the rule on a daily basis to bring him to her room at night, despite it's never staying inside during the nightly hours.
At thirteen, a heated argument resulted in William leaving the house to live in New Jersey. The kids found out that Diane hadn't been taking her medication in which case Jane watched as Matthew punched their father, also leaving the house only to come back later and take up his role as looking after the remaining members of the Reid family.
In her father's absence, Jane began starting fights in school, often coming home with bruises, cuts and several times broken bones and black eyes. Eventually she ended up getting herself kicked out of the school she'd currently been attending. It wasn't long before she was back in class again in another school, much to her despair.
At fifteen, Jane gatecrashed the school prom for Matthew's year group and announced to everyone that his girlfriend at the time, Brittany, was pregnant and had cheated on Matthew as well. The prom almost ended in Jane and Brittany getting into a fight but Jane stopped it with a smirk saying that Brittany shouldn't be fighting in 'her condition'.
Also around age fifteen, Matthew sent their mother to an asylum, to Jane's disapproval. Jane went out with her brother's best friend when she was sixteen, however they weren't together for very long, only about a month or so. Jane had dumped him, she'd found interest in some other boy.
In the years following the breakup with Matthew's friend, Jane dated other boys, none of which lasted very long - the longest being around three months, before Jane grew bored of her current boyfriend and broke up with him. Her school grades, however, got slightly better but she still didn't have anything over Cs. Despite her usual fighting (which resulted in suspensions) and bad grades, Jane missed having to do summer school by a hair. When she graduated, she didn't have an clue as to what she wanted to go into for college, so she held off. Around the age of twenty, Jane's bi-polar got worse, to the point where she had to take pills to calm it down.
When Jane's mother died, when she was twenty-one, Jane immediately blamed Matthew for her death. They argued not stop for weeks until she finally left Las Vegas to live with her father in New Jersey, leaving Matthew behind in Las Vegas, only leaving a note behind.
After she left, Jane went to collage for a year but dropped out after that, still not having much plans for her future. Shortly after she dropped out, Jane died her hair the reddish color it is now and got several tattoos, one being a bleeding heart on her arm and two beneath her right and left eyes, pink hearts with black outlines. At age twenty-two, she met a man at a local coffee shop, where she was working at the time to get money for herself and before long she was dating Gunnery Sergeant Richard Larks of the US Marine Corps. They were together for two years, before he was reported KIA when a roadside bomb went off. After she received the news, Jane pretty much closed down, her bi-polar skyrocketing once more due to her not taking her pills. Three months after his death, Jane moved from New Jersey to Gotham...little did she know her brother lived there as well. }
RP Sample: {To say that she cried when she first received the news wouldn't be true, but then Jane Susanna Reid was a splendid liar. However, not even she could say that when she first found out that her mother had died she cried. First, came the rage. First, came the fury. First, came the anger; crashing through her, washing away everything else. Anger at Matthew. It was his fault. It was all his fault, he'd sent her to that god forsaken place in the first god damn place.
She didn't hold her anger back, she pushed it full force at her brother. She screamed at him, "It's your fault!! It's all your fault that she's dead!" Her throat was raw, her voice had eaten away at the skin but to say that she cried then would also be a lie. Not even after she'd screamed at the man responsible did the tears come. Oh no, not after that one time the day the news came. It still hadn't hit full force, she still needed to live in the world without her mother before it would really hit. But reality took its sweet time in getting around the Jane Reid after the passing of her mother.
Many more sessions of rage followed that first one, more of the blaming. It was just a way to erase the grief weighting down on her shoulders since the news had came. It was just a way to get out the anger tormenting her heart. It was just a way to place the guilt and the blame on someone other then herself. She didn't know what she was doing to him, pushing him to the point where he took comfort in drink...and frankly - as cruel as it sounded - she honestly didn't care, it was his fault that her mother was dead.
It wasn't until she left, leaving a note for her brother, that it really hit. It wasn't until she was with her father again before reality came back and smacked her across the face. Then, she did cry.
But to say that Jane Susanna Reid cried when she first received the news of her mother's death would be a lie.}[/blockquote]
