The wind ruffled through her bright orange hair, her eyelids closed over her dull azure eyes. She was always told she had a lot to live up to, being the daughter of Steven Grant Rogers also known as Captain America. She didn't want to live up to anything. Hell she didn't even want herself to be known to the world as some super hero. She didn't find her powers all that super, it was just pausing time for the maximum of twenty minutes and turning back time at the maximum of fifteen minutes.
She opened her eyes, her long elegant eyelashes fluttering. She sighed, her breath rising in vapor before her. She leaned back against the bench looking down at the blank page before her, twirling the pen around in her fingers. She had no inspiration for a poem although she wished she did.
Avery Clarissa Rogers brushed the hair back from her face and sighed once more, watching her breath rise in a winding staircase. She looked out into the afternoon sun.

Alyss Jay Blake walked down the road to the park. She twirled a piece of her blonde hair absently around her finger, humming a happy tune.
She was the daughter of the Future Seer, and of Robin, partner to the Dark Knight. She knew most of the Avengers, and even had the privilege of calling Tony Stark, Uncle Tony, but this was nothing to boast about.
She enjoyed her life, but it was full of dangers and differences, problems a normal teenage girl would never have. She had no friends at school because she had been labeled Freak For dating James Wayne. She felt a small smile curl her lips at the thought of him.
She smiled as the warm rays of the afternoon sun brought some warmth into her thawing body. She saw a face she recognized, though they hadn't spoken much, for some odd reason. "Hey Avery." She said in a nice voice, she knew Avery through her love's mother, the daughter of one of her oldest friends. She wasn't sure how Avery liked her as a person, so she left it at those two words, waiting for her to continue the conversation...

Avery glanced up at the voice. Alyss Blake, the daughter of Avery's father's old friend's husband's partner. As a person Avery thought Alyss was a very kind young girl and liked her in, of course, a friendly fashion. The Blakes were good people and Avery knew that her father was pretty good friends with Alyss's mother, Amelia Blake, also known as Sparrow.
The Rogers girl offered a faint smile to the other girl. She didn't say anything, just gave a little wave in greeting. She patted the bench beside her. "How...how are you?" came Avery's soft whisper as she looked at Alyss.

Alyss took a seat on the bench beside her. A fain smile twitched her lips as she pulled her jacket tightly around her. The slight breeze sucked the warmth from her.
She offered a smile to the other girl. She wanted to be her friend, because she was a nice girl, and there is nothing wrong with making friends, right? "I'm good...how are you?" She asked gently. She could tell by the other girl's tone that she was not a very talkative person..

Avery glanced at the other girl as she sat down beside the red headed Rogers girl. Avery herself shivered, pulling her father's leather jacket closer around herself. Her rlong red hair, falling across her shoulders, with a grace she'd obtained from her mother, kept her back and neck warm in the cold months, but her fingers often froze considering she hardly ever wore gloves.
The quiet girl had to force herself to reply, "I'm..I'm alright..." She whispered, her breath fogging in the air. She offered a shaky smile, still not wanting to talk, she didn't want her secret coming out. She didn't want the sympathy of others.

Alyss sighed, she knew the girl didn't want to talk back, so maybe she could just talk to her? She sighed. Than I'll think I'm crazy... She thought. A smirk crept onto her lips.
She looked at her. "What I wouldn't give to be in my fur coat." She ventured, in reference to her wolf form. After she said it she realized the Rogers girl didn't know about it. It made her feel like a fool, but there was no way to take it back...

The red haired girl arched a brow that the Blake girl's words. "What...what do...do you...you mean?" Avery asked softly. She didn't understand what the blonde Blake girl was talking about. She didn't know about the power that both James Wayne and Alyss Blake had, to change into wolves. She only knew of her own power, her father's, her mother's and her siblings'.
Avery's mind brought up the trauma she had gone through at age eleven and she held in a wince. She didn't want to speak, not now, not when her mind had brought it up and it was fresh in her mind. A shiver went down her spine she could still feel it happening...

Alyss sighed and looked at her. "I'm not normal....Kind of like your mom and dad, but different." She said, turning her head, the pretty red hair of the girl making her smile as she pictured that color as the fur on a wolf. It would have been pretty.
She remembered when she first shifted. It was alright, but it had scared her, even more so that James wasn't there, and it was so unexpected. Her father bleeding in her mother's arms after a car crash, and she ended up running away, and shifting as she ran. It was emotional stress, she knew, but it still frightened her, but now she enjoyed it.
She looked back at the Rogers girl to see her reaction.

The red haired daughter of Steve Rogers said softly, "You mean, different like this?" Her voice was a little stronger as she closed her eyes and concentrated. Time froze. She took out her necklace and showed it to Alyss. The clock on it wasn't ticking, it was just frozen.
Avery flashed a small smile. "I can stop time." Her voice was still soft but she was smiling. For once Avery allowed herself to open up a bit, but she still curled up again whenever her mind brought up the incident.

Her eyes widened as she looked at the frozen clock. "That's amazing!" She said, offering a broad smile to the Roger's girl.
She felt like her power was inferior to hers, she could talk into someone's mind and shift into a great fuzzy wolf, but stopping time? Freezing it, and not freezing the people! The possibilities... She smiled. "So much better than mine!" She praised her.
She wasn't going to show hers unless she asked to see, not wanting to frighten the girl. She didn't want to loose the friend she might have in Avery.

Avy smiled faintly at her and shrugged. "It's nothing. I can only stop it for fifteen minutes." Truth to be told Avery didn't think it was that special that she could stop time. She glanced at the blonde girl.
"Why...? What can you do?"

Alyss smiled at her. "Fifteen minutes is still impressive." She laughed happily. She was glad she had wrestled a smile from her.
At her question Alyss slipped off the bench. "I can do this." She said directly into Avery's mind. She dropped down to all fours and was a white wolf. Her wolf form had grown with her. The wolf was bigger now than it had been when she was twelve.

Avery smiled faintly and gasped when Alyss shifted into a long furred white wolf right in front of her. "Oh my god, that's amazing!" grinned Avery, her pale blue eyes shimmering as the light from the mid-day sun reflected off the surface of them as she allowed time to start again. (MEH SHORT I"M SORRY!!)

Alyss gave a wolfy grin, shaking out her long fur. She felt a lot warmer, and figured the Rogers girl would be cold. She hopped up onto the bench beside her, curving close to her, sharing her fuzzy warmth. "It's not that special. Alex and James Wayne can do it too. We were all touched by Hel..." She shrugged her white coated shoulders and looked up the girl, her eyes were still the same brown color that they had been before. She grinned, feeling the seconds begin to tick by again.
