William sighed heavily as walked back home from a long and rough as usual day at school. He hated that he was the one the jocks picked on all the time and no matter what he did it was always something to make fun of. He sighed heavily and tried to think of better things as she dragged his feet as he walked down the cold streets of Gotham. "one day .. i want to get away from it all . to be free from this freaking hell .. to find something that means something to me .. but now its just me and my drawings " he mumbled to himself as he always did when he was out walking. " i wish .. sometimes that i didn't have to be this lonely but then again . people just make fun of me and it would only be worse if they knew what i could do with my drawings .. hell even mom and dad doesn't know much about it " He looked around as he took a detour and walked down to the docks even if he knew he wasn't supposed to. " who cares anyways .. " he muttered out with a cold tone and walked til he could see the water. "it calms me . the sea " Tagged- Open

Emily sat on one of the old rickety docks. She didn't have a home, but a few blocks away, there was a cardboard box in the back of an ally that she slept in.
A small sigh slipped passed her lips as she picked up another of the flat stones she had gathered. She tossed then, one at a time, out into the water. A faint smile every time she managed to skip one along the surface. But the smile didn't last long.
She always came to the docks to calm herself, and most of the time it worked, now that she was in a city that actually had water. She enjoyed the water, though she wasn't the strongest of swimmers.
A small sigh slipped past her lips. "Wonder if they will send someone after me again..." She sighed sadly and chucked another stone, a plunk as it slapped into the water and sank...

He kept walking towards the end of the docks and found a wooden box to sit on-top and looked out over the water and began to draw a picture of a lonely and sad girl sitting under a sakura tree and sighed softly. He looked down at the dark almost black water and wondered how many dead bodies laid lurking in the water." this corrupt and dark place . god i hate it , i hate that no matter how hard you try , good doesn't always beat the bad " he muttered to himself and bit his lip hard.
He heard some thumping noises . like when a rock hits water and he looked around to see where it came from. He got up and tried to follow the sound and eventually found a girl who was skipping stones and he wasn't sure if he should say hi or just walk away , why would a girl like that want to hang around a loser like him. he watched her for a moment and then turned to walk away.
The girl was very pretty in his eyes and she was probably some jocks girlfriend and for sure way above his league , even as a friend. He started to walk away his footsteps silent but if one paid close attention they could hear.He heard her say something that sounded like she was running away from someone or something , maybe she was some mob boss`s daughter , for all he knew it could be something like that.
Will found himself fascinating by her and so he watched her and tried to draw the girl as she sat there and threw rocks in to the water.

She had seen the boy approach from behind but turn away. Who was she to think someone would come talk to her? Her ratty torn clothes. The only thing that looked even slightly fine was her hair which she spent a lot of time running her fingers through it as she didn't want to be disgusting and knotted more than she had to be.
She would slip into backyards and sleep under porches when the night was really cold, but she wouldn't do that anymore as she had been whacked with a broom after being discovered. There was the large bruise along her forearm to prove it.
She sadly threw her last stone, her frown deepening as it didn't skip as she had hoped. She pulled her knees up to her chest and rested her forehead on her legs. She sighed sadly, a gentle wind picked up. Gentle but icy. It ruffled her hair slightly and ever so daintily lifted it off her shoulders...but she didn't move from how she had curled up.

Will looked down and then turned to look at her again , this time noticing the tattered clothing and felt a twinge of guilt as he was complaining and feeling so depressed when he had everything he needed and this sat here, in tattered clothes and a loneliness to her that will could relate to. He shrugged and walked up to her with a heavy sigh and mumbled out "hi .. isn't that cold ?" He felt really awkward trying to make some conversation with this beautiful girl as the girls at school always made fun of him and assumed that he was into guys because he liked to draw. "i-i like the water .. do you ?" he asked fast and bit down on his bottom-lip hard as he wasn't sure if she wanted company or just wanted him the get the hell out of there.
"You shouldn't look so sad .. pretty girls like you shouldn't be frowning like that " he said softly and looked at her. he was terrible at this making friends thing as he tried his best most of the time to avoid people so he wouldn't get beat up." sorry am i bothering you ? i didn't mean to .. I'm just not very good at this ."

She flinched slightly as she heard a voice behind her. She turned her head up from her knees and saw the boy. Why is he talking to me...? She thought, even the voice in her head seemed sad. He asked her if what she was doing was cold. She shrugged. "I'm used to it by now." She said, keeping her reply short as she wasn't sure how he would react. Her voice was soft, and smooth, so unlike what she looked like.
She nodded and looked out over the water at his next question. "Yes...I...enjoy looking at it." She said in response to his question. In truth, it reminded her of her life. Never truly clean, and never quite peaceful. Everything could disturb her, and hardly anything wanted to let her be, like she had been throwing stones into the bay, it was symbolic to people always disturbing her, in a violent way. That was why she had flinched when he had come up behind her, but so far, he hadn't done anything violent. He was actually...calming to her....in a way...
She looked up at him as he said a pretty girl like her shouldn't be sad. She didn't believe herself to be pretty. How could she? I homeless runaway orphan...Nothing pretty, or special, about her. She was a mess, thin, she knew if it wasn't for the long sleeved shirt and jeans that all of her ribs would have been visible, she didn't even feel the pains of hunger most of the time anymore, only when someone had appetizing food...which was quite often sadly, in her little section of ally.
She shook her head. "You're not bothering me...I actually wouldn't mind company..." It had been so long since she had spoken with someone, she was quite awkward with it herself...

Will just listened and sighed . this girl seemed as lonely as he felt and maybe that was why he was so drawn to stay and speak with her, that they might be kindred spirits. He walked closer and took off his jacket and put it on her shoulders " you'll catch a cold .. don't want that " he said softly and looked at her.Her voice sounded so soft and sweet like honey.
Will listened and leaned against a pole while he looked at this beautiful and sad girl that made his heart ache. "i enjoy watching it .. i guess my reasons for enjoying is kinda dark and broody " he said softly and looked out at the water he always wondered what it would be like if he just jumped out in it and sank to the bottom , would the world notice that he wasn't around ? would his family go on without him.
He looked at her and studied her features and found her beautiful in a special way , she may not have a Gucci dress on and full splash of paint on but he never did like those looks. She was beautiful in a broken and natural way , like a fallen angel that he had the luck to find. She looked like someone who had seen a lot and yet kept on going and he admired that.
Will look at her and sighed , someone like that would only run if she knew what i was and what i could do, i would be another freak in her eyes and yet he couldn't bring himself to walk away."that's good .. and i cant promise ill be good at it .. but i could listen " he said softly and looked up at the sky " do you ever wonder if there is a god?"

She was caught off guard as he draped his coat over her shoulders, but she felt some of her goosebumps lessen as the jacket that he had already warmed settled over her shoulders. She curled her fingers around the edge, hugging it tight to her slender frame. "Won't you be cold?" She asked softly, not wanting to steal his jacket, and not wanting to take a handout from a boy she didn't know...
She let the faintest of smiles slip onto her lips as he said he liked the water. It was something she had in common with him. She rarely had anything in common with anyone. She watched the water, seeing some of the ripples from her last stone still had yet to settle.
She looked up at his question. "I do believe in God...but not in religion." She said, and looked at him he was quite handsome. But...she didn't even know why he was talking to her, and she knew for a fact, she thought, that it wouldn't last long. She felt awkward that he was standing and she was sitting, but her joints were to frozen for her to stand. "And if there is a God, he doesn't like me much..." She sighed and let her gaze drop, a shiver wracking through her skinny, spindly, frame.

Will looked at her once again and she asked if he wouldn't be cold without it " it doesn't matter . i have a hoodie on so it will be fine .. don't worry about me " he said softly and for once he sounded like he was actually kinda there and not off daydreaming about a whole other world. " i don't want you to be cold .. you can keep it , its just a jacket anyways .. " he said softly and smiled a tiny smile at her. "it looks better on you anyways " he smiled while looking up at the moon.
for a small moment he could see a tiny smile on her lips and he liked it , he found it more suiting than that heartbreaking frown." you should do that more . i like you smile . unlike most girls its not a fake sneer from some stuck up princess..yours is really pretty " he mumbled out softly and felt like an idiot for saying it out loud , she would probably think he was some nut-job from arkham."i always try come here once a week . its the one place i can be myself .. you know .. sometimes i want to run away from everything " he had no idea why he was telling her this , stuff that he didn't even tell his mother or father but he told her , some girl he didn't know. maybe it was just easier to talk to a stranger then his own flesh and blood.
Will listened and sighed heavily " i don't know . sometimes i think he is up there pissing on me all the time .. but others i think he cant possible exist , why would he let us become so cruel and dark then ?" he said softly and looked around a bit more." then i guess we are in the same boat .. hey .. are you hungry ? i know this diner not far from here that serves a mean burger .. i mean if you don't mind eating with someone like me " he said softly and looked away.

She pulled the jacket around her tighter, feeling the bite of the wind even through it, but she would say nothing. She hated handouts, but she wasn't going to deny one from someone like him. She wasn't going to throw his gesture of kindness back into his face. She nodded and looked up at him. "Sharing warmth is more efficient..." She blurted the random fact, immediately wishing she could take it back. She mentally beat herself up over it, all the while keeping her face as emotionless as she could manage.
She listened to him talk. She actually found his voice soothing and gentle. She didn't know why he was trusting her with this information. It was so foreign to her. She didn't even know the names of her own parents. But this boy was trusting her with personal information. It was strange to feel trusted. She had been taken aback by him saying he liked her smile, and a little bit of a rosy color flooded her cheeks in a blush. She had turned her head as to not embarrass herself.
She looked up at him. She didn't want to be hungry but at the mention of food, her stomach growled angrily. "I...I don't have any money..." She said in a soft tone. She didn't want him to offer to buy something for her. She had never known a kindness like this, and she was enjoying his company...

Will sighed softly as she pulled the jacket tighter , it looked like she was still a bit cold and he wanted to heat her but he couldn't just exactly grab her into a hug or something like that. She looked so vulnerable and lonely , like the girls he drew in his sketchpad. "hmm .. i heard that too .. and if your in a snowstorm . dig yourself in the snow and make a little cave for shelter .." he said softly and stared at the stars. "you see that big bright star over there . i try to spot it every night "
It felt odd yet nice to talk to her and to talk about things that he normally didn't tell anyone , things he would just write down in his journal. This girl was getting to him and he wanted to know why she had this sad broken look on her face, why her clothes were so torn and offered so little protection against this weather , he wanted to know why she was here on the docks instead of being with her family , perhaps she didn't have one but he didn't know for sure and he didn't want to upset her with alot of questions.
Will smiled softly and looked at her as he heard her stomach growling and he heard her say she didn't have money for it. He smiled and looked at her with a kind and soft smile " it will be fine . I have more than enough cash to pay for us both .. and please don't argue with me " he wanted to buy her dinner and most of all perhaps he wanted to see if he could finally have found a friend , someone to ease his loneliness with.

She shivered violently as her body had settled into the coat and the wind bit through. "Good to know if I ever get trapped in snow." She offered him a shaky smile. She wasn't used to smiling like this, but it felt good.
When he pointed at the star a smile broke out across her face. She found that star whenever she could. She called it her star and it gave her hope of a better future. She smiled more, the light from the star reflecting in her dark brown eyes. "I always look for at that star...it's my guide..." She turned her eyes to look at him, the smile still on her face, though faded softly as if she didn't think she was allowed to smile.
She looked at him as he said he would pay for it. "I don't want you to....But, I won't argue." She said softly, she couldn't get up as she was slightly frozen with the cold and pain as the mention of food had sent her stomach growling like a monster..

Will had to smile a bit at her comment, he wasn't sure what happened to this girl or what would happen in the future but for now it was good enough to know her a little bit. it wasn't often he met someone that he wanted to be near or even have a conversation with.
The star was so bright and shone like a diamond and with the moonlight it was an eerie yet romantic feel to the night at least in wills mind."i don't have a guiding star . i just have that one that i keep looking at , wondering what its like to be one " he mumbled out softly. " you have a beautiful smile miss"
Will shrugged and looked at her " no need to argue . my treat think of it as an reward for being a human that i can tolerate " he said softly with a small and gentle smile."your starving .. come on .. some food will do us both good " he held his hand out for her.

Emma smiled as she turned her eyes back to the star. It always made her smile, no matter what her issue was. She turned her head to look back at him. She was enjoying his company, and as the pale moon was full, it reminded her of a scene from a book she had once read, where the two characters shared their first kiss beneath the light of it. It had been one of her favorite books. "We can...we can share this one, if you'd like." She offered with the slightest of a smile. At his comment, a wild blush flooded her cheeks. "T-Thank you." She said, unsure of what else to say.
She smirked ever so faintly at his comment of her being the only human he could tolerate. She was sort of shocked, but wasn't sure what to do...she didn't want to ruin anything with her power, and she didn't want to scare him with it either. "Well...your company isn't that bad." She said with a soft smile. She looked at his hand for a moment before taking it in hers and pulling herself up. As her freezing skin touched his, she felt a small shock, but she wasn't sure what it meant. She offered a faint smile.

Will looked down at the water and sighed softly as he was running out of things that he could talk about without making her awkward or embarrassed .times likes this he wished he was better at these things but sad truth was that he only ever spent time with himself and his drawings. He had pulled himself so far away from people that he never did understand people. He snapped out of his thought and looked at her as she offered to share the star " thank you for the offer , but I'm pretty sure there isn't a star out there to guide me .. i was never good at taking directions " he said softly with a kind smile.
"its true .. you have a beautiful smile . its a shame if no one got to see it " he said softly and looked at her." sorry if I'm no good at these things" he said softly and looked at her again before shyly looking away."thanks . even if I'm sure I'm not that good a company " smiles softly and looked up at the sky again before she took his hand, it felt so soft and cold in his rough and warm hand. "come on .. lets get some food and maybe some cocoa ?"
