Nightwing was in the cafeteria of the JL headquarters, sitting at the table, poking his food that he picked out. Dick didn’t feel like eating to be honest but he had to eat something. Barbara’s disappearance from Gotham City made Dick more worried than ever, as he would at times try to go out as Nightwing so that he could get his mind off of finding Babs…but to no avail, it didn’t work out. He still went to work at the BPD but some of his co-workers, and mostly the Commissioner over there was worried about Dick. The commissioner wouldn’t let his best detective on the force get off track but Dick told him & others that he’s fine. Take it to Grayson to fool his co-workers and pretending to show signs of no weakness but when it came to people like Bruce Wayne, Dick could never fool him. Bruce knew Dick well since he took the young man under his wing when he was a kid. If he was here right now, he would order Dick to take time off from his duties until he’s ready.
But that was Bruce, no matter what happened Bruce would continue the role as Batman until he retired. Batman would fight through the pain and suffering each time so that it would not get the best of him. Bruce never showed his enemies emotions or happiness, just the Bat glare from time to time. After the last couple of months, it seemed like his father was doing good but deep down, Dick knew he missed Hailey, Alex, and John still, his family. Dick lost his own parents at the hands of that bastard Zucco, but what if he lost Barbara? No, she’s not dead, Dick should not think about that, Barbara was strong enough and she can survive wherever she is. It was her that gave The Flying Grayson more hope than Dick had before forming a relationship, that went YEARS ago when they first met at Gotham Academy. She would want him to take good care of himself so Dick wouldn’t grow a beard and get less sleep. Dick chuckled at the thought of Babs scratching his chin and tickling him before he started to actually think about eating his food. |
