James had joined the X-Men about three years ago, and for those three years he was taught how to control his powers. But towards the middle of that third year, he walked out, turning dark. He joined the Brotherhood. No one really knows what made him turn dark, perhaps it was just everything weighting down on his shoulders, the death of those close to him or maybe that was what he'd been all along, a Brotherhood member just at Xavier's to get his powers under control.
But, the point is, he went dark and turned against the X-Men and all with them and then for the rest of that third year, no one heard from him or saw him for that matter, but now he chose to come back. Why? No one knew. Some wondered if James even knew himself.
At the moment, he was strolling down the street in New York City, holding himself proudly, as though he believed he was better than everyone. Honestly, he did believe that. When a woman walked by, talking on her cell phone with a loved one, he entered her mind and forced her to say hateful things, smirking as he walked on by.
He could tell this was going to be a good day.

Milo Jonathan Grant, 22 years old, a mutant. Milo had been training with the X-Men since he was in high school and after he had graduated he decided to stick around and let his powers grow some more. He knew that with the help of the professor, Milo’s powers could become much more useful and gain a lot more control over them. He was still the pacifist guy that everyone knew; he just wanted to make sure that his abilities wouldn’t hurt anyone in any way.
Milo was in New York City, at the college he was attending. Milo also had a good job and had a car so driving and transportation from the Xavier Institute wasn’t a hard thing. Milo rather liked commuting to be honest. He hated the traffic sometimes but then again who loves traffic?
After class, Milo had walked out of the science building and to his car and looked around. Today was such a nice day he decided that he would take a walk rather than driving back right away. He really didn’t have to be back there for training or anything like that so walking was a bright idea. Milo threw his school books into his car and he turned and started walking down the street.
After walking for quite some time, Milo had accidentally run into someone. “I’m sorry-” Milo stopped a moment and looked at the man that he had accidentally ran into. “James?” Milo asked, staring at him curiously. James and Milo used to be friends at the Xavier Institute before he just left one day.

Control. He had it. Finally, it was in his grasp. He could feel it through his body as it was jostled when a stranger ran into him. The words 'I'm sorry' were cut off, but they'd been spoken by a familiar voice. A voice that James hadn't expected to hear again. "Milo!?" The name was almost a hiss as it flew from James's lips, the boy's face a mask of surprise and shock, but also that darkness that dwelled within him.
Straightening a little, James looked his old friend up and done, a frown creasing his face. "Fancy meeting you here," he said in a somewhat uninterested tone, meeting his old friend's eyes, his own glowing briefly red to remind Milo that he wasn't the same person Milo had been friends with three years ago.
Running a hand through his hair, James shifted his weight. "If you wish to speak," he started, a bit hesitantly, "perhaps we should go somewhere else..." His eyes flickered about New York, narrowed slightly and flickering briefly red, causing a woman across the street to scream in pain and collapse, holding her chest as James's invisible hand closed around her heart. Her scream was cut off abruptly as she fell into a lifeless heap, a calm collected smirk snaking across James's lips as he turned his dangerously calm eyes back to Milo.

Milo looked up at his old friend, James Wayne. It really had been a while since he had seen his old friend and he figured that both of them had nothing in common anymore, not that they had a ton in common in the first place. People wouldn’t figure the two to be friends at first glance and Milo sort of knew why now since James seemed to have been hiding a whole other side to himself. Milo wished that things had ended up differently but what was done was done.
James looked just as shocked as he did when they had run into each other. Milo had stared at his old friend, watching his every move and noticed that he was doing the same thing. Did they just loose trust in each other just like that? Milo didn’t know and he wished that things had been different. James had said it was a fancy meeting him here. Milo noticed his eyes had changed and Milo knew exactly what kind of run in this was going to be. Right now, right then and there, the young brunette knew that James was not the same person at all and that their differences had really taken over.
James had then said that they should go somewhere else if he wished to speak to him. Milo tilted his head to the side out of confusion. He really didn’t know what to say to that, thinking the worst of things. He wondered if his old friend was in some sort of trouble. That’s probably what it was. There was then a scream from a woman across the street and within a brief moment, she fell, lifeless. Milo looked over at him knowing that it was James who had done that.
“what happened to you?” Milo asked in a concerned way.

James regarded Milo with a laugh at the other's question. What had happened to him? The answer was quite simple. He'd allowed himself to give into his darkest side. There was no simpler explanation for the darkness swarming through his veins. He smirked at his old friend, his eyes sparkling with malice.
"You should have known it would come to this, friend," James replied with a faint shrug, nonchalantly leaning against a wall, watching Milo for a moment before glancing across the street once again. He watched the paramedics try to revive the woman and he smirked, a small snort leaving his lips.
"It's useless. They should know." he muttered, more to himself than the mutant beside him. His pale eyes flickered back to the other, the same sinister grin plastered to his face, the blood of that woman splashed all across his body.
He wasn't just a mutant anymore.
He was one willing to us his powers for evil.
