Jean Grey is a woman who always felt that she had been left behind, defined by her lackluster childhood abilities and placed into a fragile box by her teammates. But after she died, a sacrifice to save those she loved, and re-emerged from her cocoon, a box suddenly seemed too small to put her in. Student. Teacher. Goddess. After living her life only knowing limits, to suddenly having unlimited power Jean Grey became a legend.
And a monster.
Suddenly unable to control her new found abilities, Jean spiralled out of control and committed horrible atrocities with them, and paid the price more than once. She became paranoid and sought isolation, even going so far to push her husband into the arms of another woman. Gone was the passionate, soft spoken woman and what was left in her place was a bitter old soul seeking destruction. Since Jean's latest rebirth she's done more of a personality flip than the other rebirths, often seeming more like the Jean of old these days.
She stills worries about losing control, but only sometimes. Fooling everyone has always come easy to her and the less others vulture over her, the freer Jean feels. So she's gone back to trying to make friends, and enemies, whether out of sheer need for companionship or to drown out the extra voice(s) in her head. Who knows how this story will end.
