Personality: {Despite the fact that she probably has very good reason to be, Natasha is not at all a vain or arrogant person. She is, however, blunt and to-the-point. While she can very easily speak her mind about her observations, she is not so quick to speak it about her emotions, which are always kept in check. It is rare to see Tasha displaying a real emotion, but not so uncommon that it doesn't happen from time to time. Though extremely businesslike, Natasha is kind deep down, and cares a great deal about SHIELD and the Avengers. They are like a family to her, and she would do anything to protect them and help them if they were in need- and perhaps even if they weren't. She is quick to retaliate if someone irritates her or angers her, but she will forgive as well.
Natasha is very hardworking. If Fury is the face of SHIELD, then Natasha is definitely the body, the driving force. She is almost always the person chosen for jobs that need to be done, and is very motivated. She gets things done and goes above and beyond in her work, always finding a solution to a problem if one presents itself. She usually works well with others, and is capable of both taking orders and giving them out- she is a very experienced tactician.}
History: {Natasha's history is mostly unknown and very vague. She was brought up in Stalingrad, USSR by a foster father of sorts and had been trained in the ways of being a spy ever since she was quite young, perhaps ten or less. Sometime in her younger years she was injected with a special serum that boosted all her human abilities to their highest possible rate, making her everything but an actual superhero. This serum also gave her incredible longevity, and so even though she has lived about seventy years or so, she still has the appearance and mentality of someone around twenty-four. After a regrettable life as a formidable assassin, which granted her the nickname "Black Widow", and a near-death encounter with Hawkeye, who now is her close friend, Natasha began working with SHIELD, and eventually helped found the Avengers, of which she is the only female member. As she began working with SHIELD, Natasha went undercover as a secretary named Natalie Rushman, 'working' for Tony Stark so that she could keep an eye on him for SHIELD.
As a founding member of the Avengers, Natasha was the person who helped bring most of them together. She went to collect Dr Banner herself, and was an influence in Stark's joining as well. After getting all the Avengers together, Natasha's life was a whirlwind- not to say that it wasn't before. They had a god of mischief on their hands, Loki, who was about to cause the end of the world, or close to it. However, with the help of the newest (and unexpected) Avenger, Thor, they were able to defeat Loki and send him back to Asgard along with the destructive, powerful Tesseract. From then on, the world was peaceful... for the most part. Of course, the world is never without destruction and dastardly villains just waiting for their chance to take control....}
RP Sample: {Cold. That's what she felt- utterly cold and disconnected, thoughts racing, heart pounding even though she was no longer in immediate danger. She was throbbing with pain in several places still, but it was beginning to ease off, and she didn't notice it anyway. She had too much on her mind to care.
Fear. That's what this was. Straight fear, and nothing else. Shock, perhaps, but mostly fear. She was sweating, but she was not hot. Her hands were clammy, and her red lips were parted slightly as she attempted to catch her breath. She slid down into a sitting position, leaning against the metal wall, and looked upward, eyes half closed, taking it all in. She had almost gotten killed. Though it was strange that one of her fears was her own teammate, it was true nonetheless. She was terrified of the Hulk and what it could do, but she could never quite understand why. That is, until now.
She had finally realized it, and perhaps it was because of her earlier conversation with Loki. Sure, at the time she had had the upper hand and hadn't thought anything of it. But now, now that she had the time to think, though her thoughts were rushed and blurry as opposed to clear and calm, she realized that the conversation had affected her after all. Thinking over it now, she realized her fear of the Hulk wasn't just some irrational feeling- it was grounded in a deeper fear, that of losing control.
When Bruce had turned into the Hulk seemingly moments before, what had terrified her wasn't just the fact that a large, indestructible green monster was trying to kill her. No, it was more than that- it was seeing the change in Bruce's eyes, the loss of control within his own body... it had happened to Hawkeye, too. To be in the position of being manipulated or controlled to act beyond one's own will was what was so horrifying to Natasha. When Bruce had turned, he had ceased to act like Dr Bruce Banner, a kind and altruistic man, and had become some kind of anger-driven killer. But that wasn't who Bruce was. And that was what scared her.
Suddenly, Natasha was ripped from her thoughts by the sound of Fury's voice through her transceiver. It was a bit muffled, but she could still understand. They needed her help. Stop being such a child, Natasha. Your fears are not important now. You need to get up and help your teammates- your friends. That is what's most important. Thinking this, she let out a large sigh before answering. "This is Agent Romanoff," she hated the way her voice cracked, "I copy."}
